Please move this if it's not in the right forum. I want to sell a complete, assembled lower that has been transfered to me. Can I sell it FTF or do I have to go thru a FFL? If not a FFL any paperwork that has to be filed local or state to CYA. Thanks in advance. deadeye

I don't know anything about Minnesota state or local gun laws.

But if you live there, you should acquaint yourself with them.

Here in Kansas, it is perfectly legal to sell any legal firearm, or in your case a serial numbered lower, FTF to another Kansas resident with no paperwork, or backround check, or Federal intervention.

Thanks RC. You are correct. I should have done more homework before posting. Looks like my first stop will be at one of the LGS today. deadeye

Geez, I hate to pick on you, rc, because your posts are always informative, but technically there is no distinction between his serialed lower and a "firearm", is there (as a lower is considered a firearm)?

So you can't sell a firearm in a private FTF transaction in Minnesota?

What I meant to say was going to the LGS to ask questions. From what I read this AM FTF with another MN resident is OK. Across state lines and the fact that the lower was transfered to me as a OTHER could change things. deadeye

The lower was transferred to you as 'other' because it is neither long gun nor hand gun.

Its a stripped lower.

Sell it to someone in MN who wants it. No muss no fuss.

I just sold my Makarov yesterday, all I asked to see was his DL (18+ certify) and CCW(Or other non-felon card, like a voters registration). He handed me cash, I handed him the gun, and told him to take care of my baby.

Non paperwork, no copying IDs, no nonsense.

The guy I just bought my 995 from though... ugh. I suppose people want to CTOA, but I'm not happy with people wanting my DL number etc. My CCW permit number? HEAL NAW.

That may not be the best idea. I've gotten some pretty bad info from LGS's about law and whatnot. Actual gun info? Full of knowledge. Law info? Not so much. (Or maybe they were trying to protect their bottom line...)

You know that, and I know that, but neither one of us know if the OP knew that.

I guess I didn't word it plain enough or something.

In Minnesota you can sell any legal firearm to another citizen FTF without any paperwork or transferring ownership ect. Just get the $, give the gun to the person and that's it. I always write down all the info on buyers/sellers drivers license and write up a bill of sale with a detailed description of the weapon and make a copy for both parties.
