Several Good Thoughts Here....

A nicely worded, basic introductory primer for folks thinking about getting a CCW license.

Taking 10 minutes to cover those things (if there's a few questions requiring clarification) at the beginning of a class can help set the stage and tone for the rest of the class.

Thank you! I've known a few people that have been carrying for years that need this pointed out... :D

Good article. Training is way more important than the gun anyway and almost no CCW holders bother to ever get any beyond whatever is mandated (if any).

If someone thinks they need a high cap auto and 3x mags to prepare for the "worse case", but then never bother to get any professional training that is just idiotic. I'd rather have training and a J-frame (and I don't like J-frames).

Makes sense. Getting involved when you are not ready to assess the situation and or deal with the issues is dumb. The supreme court ruled police have no obligation to intervene only to show up and fill out the paper work. I don't see cc as anything other than self preservation.

Thanks Kleanbore for sharing the article. I wish that ideology was the standard for all CCW classes.

In the article he said:
"Seriously, you are more likely to be struck by a meteor than find yourself in a situation like that as an average citizen going about your business."

I had to breath a sigh of relief. I'm glad he didn't say lightning. Don't ask how I know. :what:

De nada.

Just like there are probably always going to be those "veteran" cops of 20-30+ years experience who are really only repeating their first year of experience 20-30+ times, there are quite probably always going to be those private citizens lawfully carrying concealed handguns who are essentially repeating their first 30 days of acquired knowledge and experience over and over and over ...

How many people actually work to improve their knowledge, let alone their driving skills, once they get their drivers license?

Human nature, to some predictable degree.

Strambo, I have been well trained and I use a J-frame as my principal SD weapon.

I avoid situations where I might need that semi-auto and three magazines that have already been spoken about.

I know the day may come I need six bullets and I've only got five, but in right at six decades it hasn't happened yet. So, I weigh the risks and still carry the J-frame.

Past performance is not indicative of future results.
