Okay, this may not be the proper forum but it's a place to start.

I have a Winchester 1873 to ship and find the BATF regs confusing/contradictory (imagine that). Maybe I'm just slow. But - I DO NOT want to do the wrong thing when shipping something that goes bang.

I thought I needed a C&R from the buyer because it is a centerfire rifle but he says no because it was made before 1898.

I expect the more-knowledgeable-than-I-am (smarter?) folks on THR can guide me on the right path once again.

Help please.

:D

IF you can document that it was made prior to 1898, it's not a "firearm" by definition. You can treat it like a hunk of pipe.

Unless you wander into NJ. Stay out of my home state.
