Hi I will be moving very soon and will have to ship a scoped rifle and a shotgun to my new adress. I was wondering what is the best way for me to ship my guns there to keep them safe? Should I box them up in a soft case and mail them or do you guys have better ideas.

I use a lockable gun case that I then put into a long box and ship it. That way there is no telling what is in the package for others to steal. Also the way packages are treated you are going to want to protect your guns.

Shipping Guns

I ship alot of guns thru UPS without trouble.I agree with shipping a valuble gun in a hard case then in a cardboard box.I was told by an employee of UPS never to write on the box that there is a gun inside,as that accounts for alot of theft. If your moving,I personally would pack them up and put them in the moving van way inside.I feel that this is as safe as shipping them.

I wish I could pack them in a moving van but I am flying to where I'm moving to.If it doesnt fit in my suitcases it doesnt go,But I have to ship my guns.

The govt. says (ATF website) that UPS/Fedex ect doesn't have to require you to label the package and cannot do so themselves.... but they are to be notified (at least w/ handguns... prolly long guns too)

You are allowed from what i read on the website to send long-guns through the US mail if you like - but cannot send handguns through the mail.

Also - recall it saying you can send it to yourself - but if there is someone else at that addy they are not allowed to open/recieve the package?

Its on the ATF's website - FAQ section - whole lot of questions answered....

Questions B10 and B11....
