Hi,

Looking for a full size 22LR semi auto I can shoot, shoot, and shoot! That would be its only purpose in life. I have guns for other purposes. Would take it to the range and shoot, shoot, and shoot. Would get a good number of mags, but otherwise would not modify it. Need a good handgun to teach others, including my kids, their friends, and others.

What are your suggestions, comments, pics?

Thanks.

I have a CZ Kadet kit, a Buckmark UDX Plus, and AMT Llightning (AMT is essentially a Ruger Mk II Target with Clark adjustable trigger). It's a tough choice for #1 position for favorite to shoot between the CZ and Browning. Might go with the CZ.

Ruger MK3, still made, and does not feel like a cheap toy like the plastic griped models. Hard to clean, but never needs cleaned! Seriously, ive seen those with tens of thousands of round between cleanings. Oil every few hundred rounds, wipe the crud from the port when your done for the day. Get the Volquortsen -spelling?- exact edge extractor for it. Makes it very reliable from standard velocity to velociters, loves hollowpoints.

I have a pair of S&W Victory's that I enjoy shooting very much. In my experience, not much separates the Buckmark, the Ruger Mark series and this S&W. All are fun to shoot and you can put a brick through them in one session. Just watch for lead buildup if you're using non-jacketed ammo.

Any of the Ruger or Browning semi-automatic pistols should give you what you want at a decent price point. I like the Ruger MK II Heavy Barrel guns but really for enjoyment and just the pleasure of shooting, as well as teaching shooting any of the mentioned should do fine.

I've used the Ruger Mk I in that role and it has held up well. If buying today I would go with the Ruger Mk IV because it is so much easier to clean and reassemble.

Ruger Mk 'X' series. though they are not always fun to dissassemble.
Not made anymore, but my next favorite is the S&W 422/622. Wish I hadn't sold mine.

I like the looks of the Browning 1911-.22, but haven't shot one yet.
.22 adapter for your 1911. :)

Ruger MK III or IV. The Ruger MK series has more after market parts better triggers, extractors and IIRC either Volquartsen or Powers has a bolt/mag combo to fire 22 shorts.

Don't forget conversions - I have them for my Glock 34 (Advantage Arms), CZ 75 (Kadet), and Colt 1911 (Kimber).

Have not run thousands of rounds through it, but I have a Smith Victory here in camo that's impressed me.

I've had a Rugers in the past, and while they were nice guns, in my opinion, the Browning is a step up. My Buckmark has yet to find anything it will not digest. I've heard Berettas were a little picky about ammo.

Now if you can find a nice Hi-Standard Victor, like I foolishly sold, grab it!

Most of my .22 auto pistol experience is with the Ruger MK-1-3 series- so I recommend that.

Browing Buckmark. I've ran many thousands of rounds through mine and it still shoots perfect. I'll shoot 500 rounds in a day with it.

I have and shoot a Ruger Mark II and like it a lot. I agree the new S&W Victory 22 is a really nice pistol but don't own one. When I go to the range and shoot a lot of .22LR ammo purely for fun I like my S&W 22A. It's very easy to shoot and clean and I have shot over 1000 rounds in one day without one round failing to feed or fire. It's just a fun gun...
