I am here for a few months, brought along a .41 mag, P90, and a CZ52.

Called the 2 ranges in the yellow pages and they want 10 dollars an hour for range fees, and one won't let me shoot my CZ.

So, is there anywhere away from civilization that a person can go to and enjoy a day of plinking and getting away from the crowds? I am more than willing to drive an hour or two.

go due east on highway 120/108 or 50 about 2 hours.. hike a bit into national forest land and blaze away. if you are a gambling man, go into the more local mountains and you takes your chances into your own hands.

There's even places listed I've never heard of before and I'm a true local.

Lost Altos Rod & Gun Club best suits your requirements though. $12 for all-day access, all ranges. Great location as well.

Los Altos is where we've held all the previous Bay Area THR shoots! It's a very nice, safe, and beautiful range. There's some great views as you're coming back down the mountains.

Targetmasters is $10/day; their traps, like the range, are old and beat up and can't take the steel core of your CZ.

Reeds published rates are $10/hr, under 2 hrs and you're still $10. Nice place to shoot, well lit and clean, friendly people: my favorite indoor range.

Sunnyvale Rod and Gun is $12/day, open to the public Tues, Friday, Saturday and first and third Sundays of month. Bit easier to get to from SJ than Los Altos (SRGC is not a scenic as the LARGC). I'll be there Friday until around noon, look me up if you make it.

Let us know your opinions! I've only been to Targetmasters myself, and think I'll be working my way through this list as well :)
