What do you guys think of the short lane 12 gauge shotgun chamber adapters? They seem like nifty little gadgets for a break open shotgun. Thinking about getting one in .38 Special and maybe another in .22 or .22 magnum. Any eperience with them in those calibers? I'm not expecting extreme accuracy of any kind. Would they work safely in my old Winchester Model 37 "red letter" break action single shot 12 Gauge?

They work fine - or I should say they function fine. Accuracy is not their strong point.
The extended length versions are better than the chamber length, but you also pay a lot more for them. For shot shell reduction from say 12ga to 20ga the accuracy is not much of an issue. Shooting pistol or rifle adaptors from a shotgun is however not going to impress you. Although perhaps its worth a try for shgort range work. Not like they are real expensive.

I have an adapter for my Savage 24V that allows me to shoot 22 rimfire thru my 223 Remington chamber. That has worked well as the bore is nearly the same.

Edit : Should be no problem using then in the Model 37

Have a couple of the 12ga to 20ga adapters. Patterned them at 25 yards and saw no diff in the overall pattern, thinner yes but expected with less shot. These will be used in a very light weight NEF 12 ga single shot that is plain brutal to shoot with 12 ga shells, with 20 ga shells merely hard kicking...very worth while product...
