Has anyone had experience with using shot cartridges like CCI in their Autoloader?

The cartridge I am talking about is the ones where there is a translucent blue plastic top filled with shot.

My father uses them in his .357 often with good results. I ask because I kill a LOT of cottonmouth moccasins and rattlesnakes on our land with my Glock 19, but those would be very handy to have in a seperate magazine. Often it is more practical for me to carry my handgun instead of a rifle or shotgun.

I will be getting a 1911 soon, and I'd be interested in knowing if it may work in that as well.

My initial thoughts are that you run a risk of the plastic top getting shattered upon chambering.

Thanks!

Ive tried a few in my kimber 1911, they feed and fire fine, but won't cycle the slide (16# spring) as long as you cycle them manually they are ok, but if a revolver is available that would be the way to go IMO

thanks guys.

I was asking because I have a few more "priority" purchases to make before getting another revolver.

I'll go the manual route with the snakes :)

I have heard of making shot-shells out of .30-06 brass for a .45 ACP. Head is the same size, but the length gives room to put a cardboard wad and some shot, then lightly crimp the brass down and load them up enough to cycle.

I have NEVER tried it, only read about it some time ago. might be something to investigate-
