I saw this and thought "Thumper," though the AR platform would probably have Cooper spinning in his grave.

All US made -- about an hour from me, actually.

Bumping this because I didn't post it properly the first time.

I can't tell you how cool this was. Of all the stuff I saw, this was what I've talked about the most.

I'm not sure what I would do with it but I have always wanted a 458 SOCOM and a suppressed shorty would just be that much cooler.

I love that pic of the 458 and 5.56 expanded rounds juxtaposed against one another.

I would love to have a.458 SOCOM upper. It's a semi-auto .45-70! Who wouldn't want that? I'm a big .45-70 fan... ~Wingnut13

Teppo Jutsu's website does or did have a picture of an SBR'ed 458 they custom built for someone for bear defense while salmon fishing up here in AK. That put it on my want list in a big way (and is how I'd justify it to HH6, who has seen enough bear mauling documentaries on TV that I have trouble getting her out of Anchorage in the first place). Only downside I see to having one up here in Alaska is that getting ammo for it up here is an even bigger PITA than anywhere else, since mail ordering ammo up here is pretty close to impossible.

Yeah IIRC it is an 8" barrel, pretty cool.

How hard would it be to get brass/dies? I imagine the other loading components could be found.

All of the big bore AR calibers seem like calibers for hand loaders anyhow.

There is something about the idea of shooting 600 grain bullets at 1000 fps through a can that I just kind of think is neat.

I found a NIB Beowulf upper for just over $600 OTD (like $610 or so). The price is tempting but I still think I'd rather have a 458 SOCOM. Plus these big bore calibers seem like good candidates for SBR legnth barrels, I'm thinking 10.5".
