I finally got a day to myself and headed to the range with my AK47 and my vz-24 mauser. I hadn't fired either one since I got them.
I put my target out at 25yds. just to get them on paper. Man I was surprised that both of them
A: Didn't blow up in my face
B: Hit exactly where I aimed them.
The Vz24 was a trade with another High roader (thanks asknight) and the AK was purchased from a dealer here in Arkansas about a month ago, kinda like a Christmas present to myself (my wife hates my collecting milsurps and ammunition). The mauser is 8mm and the numbers on the bolt doesn't match the receiver. The headspace was right and the barrel, while a little frosty, cleaned up good and the riflings are sharp and strong. The AK is a WASR 10. Alot of folks seem to have a problem with them, but after shooting mine today, I will not complain. I was getting 2" groups at 100yds. That's damn good for me and my eyesight. Just had to move the front sight to the right alittle and "Bam" I was in. The ammo for the AK was the ever present wolf brand, while the 8mm for the VZ24 was Yugo sniper (1983). I purchased a few boxes from Ammunition to go.
Thanks for reading my ramblings. I am just excited that both of them shot so well. Stay well and shoot often.
