Walked into my LGS to pick up a check (long story) and they had a 17L sitting under the glass...

My buddy/dealer/bad-influence said he could get me out the door for $700 cash. Its a BNIB Gen 3 Glock 17L...

The trigger is the best Glock trigger I have ever felt. On par with the M&P 2.0 I felt side-by-side...although the M&P was a tad more crisp and had a tiny bit less creep in these particular examples.

ANYWAY. The thing is, I will be eligible for a blue label gun within 3 months, and wont be doing any recreational shooting until then. I see that the blue label price on the 17L is $507...

My question is: how hard is a blue-label 17L gun to find? I want it. No doubt. But this is the first 17L Ive seen and the money is "burning a hole" so-to-speak. If I may not be able to find a blue label 17L in 3-6months or more, then I should probably buy this rig at $700...but if THR says blue label 17L guns are relatively available at $500ish within that time frame, then I can wait...

Help me :)

So mention blue label program and offer $550 and see what your buddy/dealer/bad-influence counters. ;)

As to trigger, I have shot a lot of Glocks and now qualify a "good" trigger by one that does not move the front sight when the striker is released. So dry fire while watching the front sight. If the front sight jumps/moves when the striker is released, it's got to be smoothed out. If the front sight stays nice and steady, that's great.

Who knows, maybe he'll counter with $600 - $650. :D

I think a lot of front-sight dip is eliminated by good fundamentals. My Glock 19 has a slightly messed-up frame (ever use a real Glock to press 20 .080" kydex holsters back to back? Its not good for the gun...I wasn't firing on all cylinders that day..) so the trigger is creepier than any other 19 trigger Ive felt so far. I can still balance a spent casing on top of the front sight and it wont fall during dry fire..this is my "self check" method to see if its time to stop drinking coffee for a few hours...lol..

I agree on your offer idea. Unfortunately, I understand his cost is $620 on the gun. Figuring in 8.6% sales tax his offer of $700 OTD is generous as Im sure someone else in the next two weeks or less will walk in the door and pay his full $699.99+tax price on it.

I've never seen a 17L in the wild and I frequent LGS's often. I thought they were actually discontinued but I guess Glock does do small batches here and there. If you want a 17L I would say that they are pretty rare and you should probably fork over the dough now. If you could live with a model 34/35 those are a dime a dozen.

if he has that much in it there is almost no wiggle room. :( If you want it grab it, I paid close to that last year for one NIB and love it.

The dealers in my area charge the same price for "Blue Label" guns as other new Glocks. One dealer does not stock Blue label guns. They want me to pay for the entire gun up front, then they will order it and I will have to wait until it comes in regardless of how long it takes to get in. Oh I can't cancel my order and get a refund.

Double check the Blue Label price with your dealer before you decide to wait.

I purchased mine for $500 even.

I really disliked the stock Glock trigger and put a kit in it.

I love my 17L, its easy to shoot accurately and I have a lot of fun punching paper with it at the range.

I put a 9" Lone Wolf barrel in it for more fun :)

Blue Label?

Just shows how very little I know about semi-autos and Glock.

Its the LE program from Glock. Offers first responders a discount for their service pistol. Many manufacturers offer something along those lines.

Used? Blue label? Im curious.

I am well aware that the 34 exists...I just like the coolness of the 17L.

Does anybody here have any experience with blue label 17Ls?

I called around, two other shops in my area have 17Ls in stock for the same price of 700ish otd.

Decided to pass. I wont be able to shoot or even handle my personal guns for at least 3 or 4 months once I leave Monday. I'm sure I'll be able to find a 17L later if I still want it.

Whats a blue label?

I have a Gen 3 G17L, had it for years haven't shot it a whole lot. Shoots ok for a Glock though.

Answered 6 posts ago already, but for the sake of any future readers: https://us.glock.com/bluelabel

Edit: I wont have internet access for much longer, but maybe some info comes up this weekend regarding blue label 17L availability.

If you really like the gun buy it but if you can't shoot it until you are eligible for the program you might as well wait. You can order one when you get your credentials. You're right, the G17L is cooler than the G34... Like mentioned, you might get a Gen4 by then.

Good luck qualifying, be safe.

It may or may not be available.. They only make the 17L and 24 in small batches sporadically. I dont think any have been made in quite some time though.

Do you have any sources backing this up?
There are several available in local shops - at least 4. And thats just a small 15mi radius in WA. I called some shops in other states and one said they had twelve but are now sold out (Mosspawn in Atlanta) others reported having one or two. But no blue labels, just standard prices of about 700otd.

It seems like a batch of 17Ls worked its way through distributors to dealers a few weeks ago, and now shops are running out again. From what ive heard this is typical. Im sure more are on the way...someday.

If they are that available to you, then I'd assume they made some recently.
I haven't seen them in years.

Since I cannot shoot a 17L in IDPA SSP or USPSA Production, I would go with a 34. I have quit buying guns for Cool Factor, they have to DO something for me.
Since you can shoot either a G34 or G35 in any of the gun games wouldn't buying a G35 and then buy a 9mm conversion barrel so that you could have either the 9mm or the .40 make sense?

I've been kind of pining away for either a G17L, a G34 or a G35, but I've heard lots of people throw the conversion barrels and a few parts up as an option.

Any thoughts on that?
