ElvinWarrior,

Not a problem, I understand about a failing memory.

A brief history lesson, (from memory.)

First Allin, Model 1865, 58 Rimfire

Second Allin Model 1866 50-70

Model 1868 and 1870 50-70

Model 1873 and beyond 45-70.

At the end, some experiments were conducted in 30 caliber perhaps 30 Gov't.

These were all Springfield Arsenal production. When the trapdoor got into the hands of a gunsmith, various cartridges could be fit into new barrels but the predominate cartridge was still the 45-70. Gemmer remodeled the TD to mimic the Hawken rifle using the original barrel and chambering. Today there are a couple of fellows rebarreling TD for cartridges such as the 38-55, 40-65 and 32-40 and restocking them. I have a 50-70 I rebuilt. Next build may be a smaller cartridge.
