Yup. When I was looking for an OTF, there were two or three that Schrade was making and I specifically avoided this one because it cannot be deployed with one hand due to the design.
This Schrade OTF can be deployed with one hand.
I carry one in my left coat pocket in the winter, I am able to deploy it with just my left hand. I purchased it because state law made auto-opening knives illegal. I cant open a flipper very well with my left hand but I can deploy the Schrade Viiper easily.
Now auto-openers are not outlawed by the state for people who have FOID card, but there are dozens of municipalities where they are still illegal to possess. I keep carrying the Viper.
From my own experience, you have to take these apart regularly and clean then. You have to get all of the grime off of all of the moving parts and re-lube. Try to keep your pocket clean, this knife seems to suck in lint and stuff like a vacuum cleaner. Never throw change into the pocket where you keep this knife, even if you're in a hurry, a dime fits in the front slot, a dime goes in easily but it won't just fall back out of the slot once its in there, it will disappear so that you can't see that the dime is in there and it will lock up the blade.
