Have any of you guys ever shot Sierra 135 gr (.308) single shot pistol bullets out of a 30-30 rifle? My brother just gave me over 100 of these loaded for a Contender he no longer has. Not sure what load, but he gave them to me for my Marlin 336, so at least he is confident they won't be over pressure. And I trust his handloading ability. Pointed, so they will have to be loaded two at a time, of course. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with these as a varmint/medium game round. Or any opinion at all. Thanks, guys.

Aren't these pointed soft points? If so don't use them in a tube fed rifle. You might get a very bad surprise. as the points could set off the round in front of it during recoil.

The lighter bullets in the 30-30 rifles are quite accurate as a rule. I have used the Speer 130gr. HP and the 100gr. plinkers with good results. They make good target or varmint loads.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll have to get out and give these a try. And jak, thanks for the warning, but if you check my original post you'll note I said that as pointed bullets they will have to be loaded two at a time. That would be one in the chamber, one in the tube. Although a 30-30 doesnt really have that much recoil, and I don't ever recall a credible report of rounds in the tube going off, I don't want to be the FARK link you guys submit for the next Darwin award. So two at a time it is.
