Anyone have any first hand experience with one? This one: http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/1911-tactical-operations.aspx

I'm debating getting one for a couple of reasons. Reasonable pricing and good magazines with the gun are big ones. The only complaint I've seen about them, is the stock trigger isn't equivalent to the trigger on a $4K+ 1911 light a Night Hawk or something similar. Go figure.

So if anyone has any personal experiences with them I'd like to hear them (good or bad).

Thanks!

According to this picture, the stock trigger would be easy to beat by any 1911 that has one, lol.

Seriously though, that looks to be about the same pistol as a Sig nitron railed 1911, one of which I have.
I had to send mine in before it would run 3 shots in a row without failing to feed. After they adjusted the extractor and sent it back, it has run perfectly since then. Didn't cost a dime to send back to Sig and it was back to me within 2 weeks. Still, kind of a disappointing experience for a new gun.
It is reasonably accurate, although not any more accurate than my 1991A1, so their "match grade" barrel might be a little lacking.
The trigger is decent, but a bit spongy compared to my 1991A1, which has an excellent trigger, plastic be darned.
The magazines that came with my gun have all been replaced, I wasn't very impressed with them, to be honest. Of all the "extras" that came with mine; laser, holster, extra mag, etc...all were cheaply made and none were really of any value to me. I would have rather saved the $50 or so on the price of the gun.
The build quality of the gun is very nice though.

When I got my Sig 1911 railed TacPac, I called Sig customer service and they verified:

- All 5" Sig 1911s are built on same stainless steel frame/slide using match barrels/bushings/triggers.
- TacPac is essentially the same pistol as TacOps without the ambi safety/magwell/night sights

I have over 8000 rounds through my Sig 1911 TacPac and I have not experienced any parts breakage and 200 gr SWC reloads fed reliably with factory/Chip McCormick/Wilson Combat 47D 8 round magazines. Only thing I have replaced so far has been recoil spring with Wolff/Wilson Combat springs. The black Nitron finish over the stainless frame/slide is wearing very well and I have used Hoppes #9/Breakfree CLP.

I like the Sig 1911 TacPac so much that I am buying another Sig 1911 stainless steel model with nightsights.

Here's 2" shot group at 25 yards using 230 gr RMR TP RN and 5.0 gr W231/HP-38 (I know, almost had one inch group until the flyer) - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9630316#post9630316

Thanks for the feedback. From what I'm reading the regular TacOps has a different slide shape then a "normal" 1911? Sig also sells the Traditional 1911 TacOps that appears to have a "normal" 1911 slide profile. How far off is the regular TacOps, is it close to a regular Sig slide then a 1911, will it fit in a normal 1911 holster?

Deleted. Didn't know what I was talking about, and didn't want to be the reason anyone leaves here misinformed. :uhoh:

Its the slide, but Sig does have a lineup of "traditional" 1911s.

That said Crossbreed/Comptac make holsters specific to Sig 1911s.

For the folks who have a TacOps, how are the Sig Sauer brand magazines? A local shop has one with 4 Wilson Combat magazines, for an extra $150 over what I saw a NIB TacOps going for on gunbroker. Wilson mags aren't $50 a pop down here, so it's a bit of an overcharge (plus taxes, etc.), but I've had a chance to look at the gun in person to verify condition etc. If the Sig magazines run well though, I'm going to take my luck with gunbroker for the cost savings.

I've had no issues with the 3 SIG mags that came with my TACOPS, they've also worked fine in my RIA Tactical. But then I've yet to have a 1911 that needs "fancy" mags.

You only have to worry about this with Kydex holsters. They'll fit leather 1911 holsters
