Sig P220, CZ97b, or 1911 Springfield Milspec?

I have shot all of these and owned two. They are all fine pistols. The only difference between them - and it's the most important difference - is which one you personally like best. All three of these have radically different grip sizes, grip angles, and trigger feel. The 1911 will have the slimmest grip. The CZ is rather chunky with a fairly long trigger reach and you may not like it if you have small to medium size hands. If you have very large hands, you might think it was custom made for you. The SIG is somewhere in between.

Short answer: you need to handle all three, dry fire if you can, rent or borrow if at all possible, before you make your decision.

The folks telling you to go with the one that fits are giving you good advice. I own 2 of your 3-- the sig and the springer. The sig is good to go right out of the box. It is biger in the grip, taller, and shorter in the muzzle. It is also lighter due to an aluminum frame. The 1911 fits my hand perfectly, it is thin, easy to carry comfortably, and easy to hit with. It is also heavy and I felt the need to make a few additions to it to add features that I valued. I love shooting both of them. I can hit with both. I can't make your decision for you, but I can tell you to get the one that fits, and if they both do, get the one you are most comfortable with as far as the safety's and action. There is a world of difference btwn a single action cocked and locked 1911 and a traditional double action SIG. Both excell at what they were designed to do. You have to decide which design purpose you feel most comfortable with.

then maybe the CZ - nice second choice if that is what your budget allows.
Don't buy a cheap 1911. If you buy a 1911 you need to step up and pay some bones.

Well, I wouldn't say you need to. Lots of guys out there that are perfectly happy with their Rock Island 1911s -- even those who own more expensive models like Kimbers and Springfields

At this point, the P220 is more my style...but if I wanted a 1911 and had that same amount of money (we'll say $700) to spend, I'd think long and hard about buying a RIA Tactical and having $300 left over for ammo, gear, or to put toward another gun that I wanted.
