Sig P226 vs Beretta Brigadier?

I have large hands too and I bought a Wilson/Beretta 92 Brigadier Tactical. Its a great gun and I'd happily buy another Beretta. The Brig Tac is a G configuration, meaning that it has a decocker only. Beretta is rereleasing a run of the mill 92 SD decocker only gun pretty soon, if they haven't already.

I think the "G" spring loaded decocker is the best configuration for a Beretta. You've got one beauty of a pistol, the cheapest Wilson, and arguably the best Beretta ever!

While in general, I prefer the Beretta to the SIG, be aware the Brigadier has a different slide than the regular 92FS/G/M9 etc., which of course is why it has the Brigadier name. It may complicate your holster search.

Make sure the holster you're looking for is available for the Brigadier model. That's the only downside to all the great options Beretta is offering these days. There are so many slide and frame options, the holster makers have not all caught up yet. I'm sure they'll eventually catch up, but it may take some time.

Big hands here. The trigger on the 226 feels better than the 92 because on the 226, the trigger doesn't feel like it has to go as far back to fire compared to the 92; there's less finger scrunch on the 226. YRMV.

I hope you appreciate the technical term "trigger finger scrunch", but if you've got a long trigger finger, I think you'll understand what that means.

This is a good point and worth consideration. While I do like my Brig and shoot it well, especially with the Wilson trigger job it has, the trigger does seem to break later than on any Sig IMO. Trigger reach and trigger break are the two factors that affect my shooting the most, and having a larger grip seems to help this. I also have boney fingers, which gives me a weaker grip than other folks with hands my size. I'm 6'3", 195 lbs, with XL hands, but only wear a size 7 ring.

I like to have examples of different gun designs, so it doesn't make the Beretta less of a good gun to me, but when I do buy a Sig, I expect I may shoot it a tad better than my Beretta. Like I said though, I'll keep the Beretta none the less.

When you look at the really good shooters, a lot of them have big meaty hands. Jerry Michulek is a good example. I consider Hickok45 to be a pretty good shooter, and I think he is 6'8". His hands seem to be able to hold on to any sized gun and shoot it proficiently.

This guy is spending almost $800 to do the Wilson 92G SD upgrades to a standard Beretta 92 Compact;

So $1,195.00 for a complete full-size gun from Wilson ain't such a bad deal!

I can vouch for that. After shipping, transfer fees, and the trigger work, I still feel the $1350 I spent was worth every penny. The Brig is a great shooter. Wilson just made it better.

Both of those pistols are fine choices. I have a SIG P226 and Beretta 92FS, both in 9mm as well as a Beretta 96D Brigadier. All are incredibly accurate and reliable. For me, I prefer SIGs because they do not have a manual safety and do not have any controls on the slide such as the safety on most Beretta models. The SIG seems to be slightly tighter and more accurate to me. However, those are individual preferences.

Both are overall great all steel guns that will serve you well.

I've written many times my personal opinions of the failings of the 92. For ME I'd go the the Sig Sauer as I prefer the trigger, the safety location and design, and the ergos.

But, both are among the premier designs and that's an undeniable fact.

It might really just boil down to price and extras if you can't decide.

Sigs are more reliable, at least more so than the 92 I used to own. The new Short Reset Trigger on the 226 is really nice, as are the new grip configuration.

Both. 226 and wilson combat 92. Then you'll have the best of both. The hard part is deciding which 226 model. I went with the tac ops with a set of G10 grips.
