So I went to Academy to purchase a new glock and while there the little lady saw as she called it a baby 1911 aka the sig P238 and loved the way it felt in her hand so ? time what should I look for when if i go get her one let me state that this is the pistol she wants we have looked at the lcp Taurus tcp kel tec and none have felt right so advice please.

Fine little guns. Now the bugs have been wrung out of them, they're generally reliable and more pleasant to shoot than most any other pocket pistol.

nice little guns, there were early release issues that have been solved

it isn't really a 1911 design inside, but it runs just like a 1911 if you want it to (the differences can be ignored, like the safety not locking the slide in place and the safety can be in "more safe" with the hammer forward)

I would look for the best deal you can find. I got my P238 a couple weeks before Christmas, on sale at my LGS. It came with the extended magazine, Sig trigger guard laser, and Sig branded Houge rubber grip, for $479. I thought it was a misprint on the add, and went in, ready to be disappointed, but that was the correct price. Its also not an older model(I was worried about how old the Tritium sights were)as the fired cartridge was dated December 2012. There are deals out there if you look. She made a great choice, its a great pistol.

There are all sorts of different P238 models out there. Go to the SIG website to check them all out. Then start looking around at the local gunshops and gunshows to see what's available and what kind of deals are to be had. I got mine on sale at one of the local chain stores. It came with the Nitron finish, night sights, laser module, rosewood grips, and a holster. Very pleased with the pistol and with all the accessories that came with it.

There are a number of good 380 pocket pistols, but the P238 is clearly the best 380 pocket pistol you can purchase.

I have a 238HD, and have carried it for about 2 years. Fired probably 500 or so rounds thru it, and enjoy shooting it. I have never had any problems with any ammo. The finish is strong, and for a "pocket gun" it does get banged around a bit.
