I had given the Sig P320 Carry a look a while back, but the grip just didn’t feel great. Then
Old Dog did a post showing off his new Wilson Combat grip frame on his Sig. That got me to give the P320 Carry another look.
I decided to get one and order a Wilson Combat frame. But with COVID-19 and then the rioting going on across the country, panic buying is in full swing. Finding a P320 Carry was just not in the cards.
But then I started thinking. The Marine Corps just adopted the Sig M18 so, I thought, why not get a M18 Carry?
Father’s Day was coming up so, I had my dealer see about finding me one. List price was $680. I’ve always felt that the Father’s Day gifts you buy yourself are the ones you like the best.
Last Friday my dealer said he found one and it would be in today. Today I stopped in at the shop and my gun was waiting for me.
It came with one 17 round mag and two 21 round mags..

Within a couple of hours I was at the range. I fired the LA state post course, and shot a 115 out of a possible 120. Not bad for the first time out with the gun.
I like the trigger on the gun and it shoots well. Now I need to get a Wilson Combat grip frame.

Congrats on the new gun.

Between the Wilson Combat, Polymer 80, Lima laser grip, and laser-sculpted grips, the new Sigs really allow a lot of options to turn it into exactly what works for you.

Hey Gunny,

I think you are solid. There' quite a few M17/M18s at my club. They are universally loved. I'm interested if you notice, as a few here have, of a slight handling differential with the 21 rounders.

I did use the 21 round mags yesterday along with the 17 round. The gun doesn’t seem to balance as well with a full 21 round mag.
I also have a M17. I have three 17 round mags and two 21 round mags for it, but have never used the 21 round mags.
Sig sure does like their magazines, with prices starting just under $40. I gut a CDNN Sports add the other night that had the compact grip frame, one mag and a holster listed for $39.99. I went ahead and ordered it because, it was like getting the grip frame and holster for free.

Agree their mag prices are ridiculous. I look for the sales by Top Gun Supply, Greg Cote, CDNN and sometimes even Midway.

But I have found that, of all the 320 models, the 320 Carry is a good size and weight for me. "Carry" is a good moniker for it, because it is actually ... a good carry gun. And that front sight really pops in daylight, too.

Funny, just got an email from Wilson today saying they are now offering their complete 320 Carry options.

Looks good

Nice present- happy fathers day! Now that makes me think ahead.... What are you getting yourself for retirement day??????

I've had the M17 for a while and like it a lot. I thought I wanted to add a M18 to the collection until I realized the grip is the same length and takes the same magazines. For some reason I always thought it would have a shorter grip, sorta like the G19 is a little smaller than the G17.

Knowing that I'm not sure I want both guns. If I'd waited for the M18 I might prefer it to the longer barreled M17, but for now I'll just keep the one.

And you can just buy the shorter grip frame and some new magazines, and use your M17 you have.

FDE I love it !!!!
But would it have been so hard for Sig to make the slide and the grip the same shade of FDE?

This clash of colors bothered me so much that I bought a black M17, and then substituted a FDE grip. At least the contrast looks nicer than the clash. I ordered a Sig-branded retention holster from Israel in olive green, and the three colors really work well together. Nice camo effect.

/Wow, some folks are so fussy ... and well, looking at the Glock 19X and the S&W M&P 2.0, the slide color isn't exactly a match for the frame. I rather like the more bronze-ish slide over the dark tan frame ...

Even Wilson Combat didn't get it right, then ... but I still like it.

I think my 19x is better with different shades of brown, I like the contrast.

What FDE and coyote tan looks like sure does vary a lot. If you think the slide and frame of the Sig M17 being different colors is bad check out the FN SCAR. Every part of the rifle is a different shade of FDE!

I bought two consecutive serial M17's right before Christmas, and just this past week got an M18 slide assembly to swap onto one of them. Great handling setup either way. Hope you enjoy it.

This design is so modular that if you have an M17, there is no need to get a complete M18 as well. Just get an M18 slide/barrel assembly and swap the parts at will. (Note, however -- if you're a perfectionist -- that the serial number does specify whether it's an M17 or M18.)
