I kinda lumped standard and night sights that were 3 dot together as 3 dot. Atleast that was my original thinking.

I voted on the "black on black" because I've only shot paper targets in good light...the "day at the range" kind of shooting. I've never had to fight for my life. If I survive that situation it might change my vote. Start looking for better visibility under stress. All my early years of shooting were with guns that had black on black sights.
Mark.

Other - black rear and tritium front, "Straight-8", or tritium bar-dot. I don't like 3-dot sights, because, when the dots are aligned, the top edges of the front and rear sight are seldom aligned.

I've always liked the red ramp front, white outline rear of the Smith revolvers. Pretty good for field use, and decent in medium/low light.

I like black on black, but I do have a gun set up with night sights around here.

Black on black, fixed. Not perfect but perfectly serviceable.

If you can't ID your target you can't justify shooting it. If you are familiar with your gun, muscle memory will suffice. Having a good flashlight works very well.

Recently picked up a nice M66 S&W with red ramp front. I found it very distracting in daylight.

Some people think I am set in my ways. Maybe, but if it works it's not stupid.

Good thing the economy doesn't rise or fall with my purchases.

I find a simple black on black setup helps me focus on the front sight and on getting the spacing between the front and rear posts on the sight picture exactly correct.

I agree with Dienekes - if you need tritium inserts to see the sights, you probably can't see what you're shooting at clearly.

For my CCWs, the XS "express" with tritium. IMO, nothing is faster to align at "social" ranges. Works equally well in bright or low light and is at least as rugged as other fixed systems.

The "shallow vee - large bead" concept, while developed for and proven on large-bore rifles for dangerous game at short-to-moderate ranges, is every bit as practical and sound when applied to a defensive sidearm. No real surprise; the situations are very similar.

Bonus points were awarded for being able to get better hits sans corrective eyewear than with any other conventional open iron configuration. No small consideration, at least to this G.I.T. (Geezer-In-Training).

Express style sights for my defensive autos.
Standard dot size. Big dot seems a little large to me.

I figured this had been done so I ran a search before posting and came up blank I just ran another search on the XS sights and found 3 similar threads. Oh well

For me, the plane black adjustable set, make get better groups.

I love the Triangle/Trapazoid sights on my Steyrs ... wish I could get them for other guns like my Kahr (also wish I could find them in night sights).

The ones that look like that, but in white. Whatever they're called.
On my Bersa, they call them U-SYSTEM sights. I noticed a couple of Glocks that use them as well.

For whatever they are, I can acquire my target quickly with those sights and shoot quite accurately with them as well.

However, I shoot accurately using black-on-black iron sights on my snubbie as well.

Autos I like 3 dots, same color. SO I voted that.

Revolvers I really like a colored ramp front with a white outline rear.

For Rifle irons, I prefer post and ring or whatever it's called, like AR15 sights.

Black on Black sucks when shooting black bullseyes or shilohettes, imo.

Tritium front, plain rear.

My carry gun has Mepros in the front and rear though. I didnt realize I didn't like them until after a few hundred rounds.
