does anyone know of a manufacturer who has ever or currently make a double action snubby .45 Colt something along the same size as say a charter arms .44mag just a curiousity thing not too serious about it

any chance you know the model?
anyone make one thats of a little better quality than taurus (not that im bashing on taurus just not my go to brand)

funny funny on the 460 smith lol but i was hoping for something just a bit smaller lol
i really like the size of the taurus 450 but goodluck on me finding one of those just like the 9mm revolver they had a while back
as for the ruger alaskan im sure its too big for an ankle holster too

thanks tho

The Ruger Alaskan isn't as large as it looks, nor as hard to carry. Now carry in a ankle holster would be a bit of a problem.
I carry an Alaskan in .44 mag, in my right front jeans pocket.
I don't mind the weight, it's only three ounces heavier than a full size 1911.
When you look at the Alaskan, at least to me, the Houge grip makes the gun look larger then it is. I put a gp100 compact grip on it, which decreased the size considerably.
And loaded with .44 Specials, makes a very sweet shooter that if the need arises, can be loaded with the Big Bear Stomper Magnums !

ive never handled an alaskan (unless it was sarah palin in some wierd dream... but enough of that) but they do look large from the pics but i was thinking more along the line of a "backup" style piece for an ankle holster i think the taurus 450 hits it dead on too bad they discontinue almost everything interesting after a few weeks on the market lol

Dimis. . .

I ain't a big fan of Taurus quality, either, except in their carry revolvers. I put down a S&W 60 for one. I wanted 7 shots but would not have gone that route if risking reliability. They're S&Ws in design (almost quality) with Taurus printed where Smith & Wesson was. Wouldn't have a Taurus Semi-Auto for anything, don't even like their single actions. I pick up Taurus DAs whenever I can.

The online auctions still have discontinued Tauruses. GunBroker is my recommendation. If you don't like used, a "New Old Stock" will show up on occasion.

Question, though . . . why a snubby in 45 Colt? . . . and what did you eat for supper to dream of handling Alaskans? :)

AFAIK, the Charter is not made for .44 Magnum, but for .44 Special, which you can't tell from .45 Colt without a score card.

yea i missquoted the 44magnum its just so natural to type "M A G N U M" after 44 lol i realized that last night
as for why a snubby in 45 well i guess you can say im playing a little modern cowboy ive been saving my bucks for a pair of Ruger Redhawks in .45 Colt and thought (not even a serious one at that) if for some odd reason the big apacolyps happens id carry em in a double shoulder rig (please dont take this seriously im pretty much joking) and in theory would like a snubby backup that uses the same load lol like i said its a BS playing around in my head thing
more doing research to find new toys than taking it seriously
i mean really if the end of the world comes ill just dual wield M60s and use my custom made grenade launcher codpiece lol

do i really need an odd supper to dream about handling sarah palin? i mean com'on shes like milf of the year isnt she?

cinteal
i have no problem buying used as long as it wasnt abused only problem with gunbroker and other sites is i never have money when they have what im looking for and they never have what im looking for when i have money but ill keep my eye out for a 450 just like the taurus 905 im still trying to pick up
(have we noticed a trend of me wanting wierd stuff yet?)

Dimis,

I was only asking what you had for supper to dream of "milf of the year" so that I could plan my next meal :D Don't want to eat something that would bring up thoughts of the new SOS. :barf:

cinteal my diet is predomantaly pizza so that should get you on your way lol

can't be it, I keep the local Little Caesar's in business. Ahh, the endless supply of target boards . . . take out pizza.

Wow that sounds really painful, it must be hard to walk or sit down.

Comfort is overrated. :)
I do have the " Box-O- Holsters" of all types. And over the years I have found that in the pocket works for me.
I won't say I don't notice the Alaskan in my front pocket, but then that's where my " comfort level" is, it's there and I know it :D.
Also one last thought, The weight would bother me in my pocket, if I had to run, but then again, I'm too Old, and Fat to run. So I come full circle, back to my " comfort level"............Big Bore at Hand. :D

The 45 snubbie you requested...S&W 625 of 1989..much better quality than a Taurus........

thanks for the pic FoMoGo i was ready to ask how big that smith was compaired but yo already answered that question any chance you have a pic of the taurus 450 next to a small frame .38 for compairison?

Actually, S&W made a .45 Colt version of their 625-10 .45 ACP snubby - called the 625-11/SKU #170266PC. The 1.88" SS barrel (FC to muzzle!) is so short, it only has '45 CLT' on it! It had an Al/Sc frame and SS cylinder - and only 100 were made (10/'05). I saw one 'reduced' locally to $969 a couple of years ago. Having shot a friend's .45 ACP version, the 625-10, I wasn't interested - it weighed 24 oz and had a 2.01" barrel - it's FC intruded into the frame opening due to the shorter cylinder.

This is my lite-weight snubby - in .44 S&W Special, an L-frame S&W 296 I bought new on closeout over six years ago:

I load 200gr Gold Dots, usually the excellent GA Arms brass cased loads - but I used the Blazers for years. In .45 Colt, the Speer 250gr Gold Dot is a great choice - my 625MG carries it for protection loads. Believe me, protection loads in .44 Special are a lot easier to find.
