Hey Folks,

Came across the web site for Sitting Fox Muzzleloaders a few months ago and was impressed with their kit prices. Has anyone had experience with these folks? The last kit I built was a smoothbore from Caywood Gunmakers and was quite pleased, but the prices have gone up quite a bit in recent years. I've also been looking at TVM.

All Thoughts Welcome.......

Thanks for the link. Those are some nice looking guns, and I like the price on the Poor Boy.

Nice parts and nice prices too.. Sorry I never heard of these folks, but they have very nice stuff in the pictures..

I bookmarked their site. Thanks

Sitting Fox is quite well known in the field of traditional longrifle kits. They're considered a good alternative to the premium custom gunmakers, on a par with Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading.

The price is very reasonable but I would ask about the make of the barrel and lock. Also about the rate of twist, where's the barrel attachments and sights?
The lock and hardware installed on the finished rifle looks different than the ones pictured as being included in the kit. The lock looks like it's a Traditions which should be fine for percussion but maybe not the best for flint.
But the length of the barrel tang does look like it's a bit short.
BTW, I did buy an inexpensive .36 CVA from Ray Franks, the owner.
He's a nice person and easy to deal with. But I would still ask a lot of questions to be thoroughly sure that the rifle or kit is the right one.

Good link. I have been about ready to pull the trigger on a Lyman plains rifle kit. I get a discount at Midway and it's pretty cheap. I may have to reconsider that after looking at what sitting fox has to offer.
