Can these two "accessories" be used together? Also can a scoped sks with a brass deflector be combined? The B.D. that came on my gun was obviously home made, was chunky and looked horrible so I took it off. Unfortunatley that meant the scope had to go too. Is there a deflector that accomodates all my needs?

I have tried different combinations on various SKS's, and haven't found one yet. I finnaly gave in and went with detachables. I have found new 10 rounders that have a straight body and look and work very nice (Almost M14 style). I can get more info and some pics if you want 'em.

I have an SKS-M that has the receiver(cover) mounted scope setup...Then you just need to find a short scope (they're out there, mines a 3-9x)), and it eliminates the need for the brass deflector.

In regard to the reciever cover mounts w/ short scope, this can be a great setup on an SKS as long you don't have too high of expectations on accuracy. I have a Poly/K-Sports with this setup, and it seems to work fine without a deflector. Just make sure the reciver cover has something other that just the release lever to hold it on nice and tight, other wise you'll lose zero pretty quick. I still haven't been able to efficienly use strippers though.

Yes, many report problems maintaining zero with this setup... I haven't had a problem, UNLESS I romeve the cover (YMMV).

Don't know about stripper clips, as mine takes AK mags so I've never tried it.

I use the cresent moon shaped stripper clips and I found with the 10 round fixed mag if you leave out one round and only slam in 9 they work great. My 2 cents scopes and sks's don't mix. I found 10 rounds led to stove piping. Don't hold me to that.lol

I haven't had that issue. 10 rounds off of a stripper clip ran smoothly. So smoothly that it prompted me to remove the brass deflector just do i could reload quickly. The biggest loss is the scope. Sounds like a shorty scope is the best solution so far. Anyone have pics or a brand name to look for or avoid?
