I was wondering what scope mount system other SKS owners can recommend from good experience. I know there are various ways to go about it, I'm guessing the receiver cover mounts are best. Regardless, I'd like to know which approach has worked best for those out there that have tried it with good results.

I'd like to get similar recommendations for scope mounts for a Garand, which seems darn near impossible considering how it loads and ejects the clips, but I'm assuming it can be done. Looking for a way to do it without making permanent alterations to the weapon.

Thanks in advance!

The SKS receiver mounts are absolutely the worst way to mount a scope. There are a couple of companies that make a mount that replaces the rear sight, and can be put back to original configuration in just a couple of minutes. I use a red dot with mine.

Tech Sights trust me on this one. In my experience SKS scope mounts run the entire gambit from crap all the way to complete garbage

I went through all the options for myself on the SKS's and found the Weaver converta mount the best option for me:

It is good value for the money.
It 100% holds zero reliably.
It allows the use of stripper clips depending on the scope.
It detaches and re-attaches without significantly loosing zero.
It allows for the use of the rear sights as a backup.
It allows for the action to be taken down without removing the scope.
It is easy to install.

There is a very similar mount purpose made for the SKS by a little known company I can't recall that is a little easier to install becasue you do not have to modify the base like you do on the Weaver.
