I have an SKS-D or M that has a thumb hole stock and takes AK mags. It’s the 16” barrel version.

Decent gun, not particularly accurate or well made so I’m going to sell it.

What’s it worth? I paid $260 OTD. Online they are listed $500-700 but I would never pay that much for such a crude gun... and that’s list price not sell price.

Input would be appreciated

Interesting. I don’t think the shop new what it was and it didn’t have a mag. They kept trying to insert p-mags and they of course wouldn’t fit... so I said I would take if off their hands.

I bought a few steel mags elsewhere and it runs fine. Interesting that the bolt is smaller than a yugo sks and is not interchangeable.

I have heard that the yugo sks has a lot looser actions than the chinese guns, so that doesn't suprise me at all. the M model was built for export market, although there were some military and police use in China. the one I have runs great, I have had three over the years, they are great guns.

Don't let the stock and blueing fool you- it is well made where it needs to be. Norincos, even the export models, are durable, reliable combat weapons. My LGS has that same gun for $650 right now and I would be all over it if I didn't already have 2 Chicom SKS.

The Yugo guns are more likely to be found with mismatched (or force-matched) numbered bolts- thus their relative "looseness", but this has no effect on their operation. What DOES cause the Yugo to come to a screeching halt are worn grenade launcher gas valves resulting in failure to cycle and/or short stroking.
Last I checked, there were a few guys selling nice stainless replacement valves, but it is one more thing to go bad which you don't have to worry about on a Norinco or Tula.

The bolt is built to different dimensions than the yugo, and likely other Chinese and Russian rifles. Part of the reason I bought it was to have a “spare” rifle.

My yugo is more accurate. With tech sights it will group into a baseball at 100 from the bench. The Chinese rifle with the same sights will shoot into about a small dinner plate. Useable for deer or “combat” I suppose but for $500-$600 id rather have something more accurate.

I’ll put it on armslist and see what happens. Thanks guys.
