Alright I admit it I'm a D.A. for not avoiding these cheap plastic pieces of $#!t
I bought 2 of the 30 rounders from a vendor at a gun show a while back, loaded 'em and haven't used them untill today. The prob is the follower doesn't push the front of the bullet up enough so it gets stuck and the spring is too weak. They say lifetime warranty on the outside but will Promag take them back even though I bought them an individual? They were new when I bought them. Also are the 20 rounders any better? I have a metal 30 rounder that came with the gun back in the 80s and it works great it's a U.S.A mag.

1st, use the 10-rd magazine that comes with the gun and you can't go wrong.

If you ABSOLUTELY MUST have a 'high-capacity' mag, the Tapco 20-round magazine has been 100% for me in two guns. I bought a few extras but only shoot with one.

It's not an absolute must have I just like being able to change out mags and stripper clips don't really appeal to me

I had this problem with some aftermarket mags as well. Really easy to fix. Remove the plastic follower. It has guides on the front and rear with the rear extending further down(longer). I simply heated the rear guide to soften it to allow it to be bent (slightly) backward. This forced the front of the follower upward allowing the rounds to chamber. No problem with spring tension though but replacement springs are plentiful and cheap.

On an SKS stripper clips are so much faster, I've never understood why anyone would want to mess with these.

Awhile back I stopped at a grocery store in South Dakota for some beer, and ended up picking up some .308's in the same part of the store, and thought about maybe the $20 promag. The price was right, but I don't recall much good ever being said about hi-cap promags.
