Greetings everyone.

Some years ago, i bought an SKS CHICOM. It was and still is in nice shape. I have it all decked out, about the only thing now that im missing is th cleaning rod that goes under the barrel. Anyway onto my problem. When i try to fire ammo such as "Wolf" brand im lucky two get 2 round thru it, before the bolt seizes on me. Now if i fire cleanbrass thru it, it cycles beautifully. I have cleaned it within an inch of its life, checked the gas piston everything. Still, the steel rounds will not cycle. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks!

That's odd. I've owned a Norinco SKS since 1988 and ALL the ammo I've ever fed it has had steel cases, both copper washed and lacquered. Have you tried steel-cased ammo other than Wolf, e.g., Silver Bear?

There's a thread on AR15.com discussing stuck casings in an AR15. Seems that a live Wolf cartridge got jammed into a hot chamber by having the lacquer melt and reharden like a glue. Could be you are experiencing a similar sticky problem.

I was thinking about the laquer issue myself but sounds unlikely after only a couple of rounds unless the chamber is really tight, especially for a SKS.

How does the bolt get stuck? Does it chamber a round and get stuck with the bolt closed?

I had an Albanian do that just recently. Well a friend did anyway. What it was was the gas op rod sticking. I'm not sure if that is the correct terminology, but the gas system needed a good scrubbing and all was fine.
Hope that helps.
