I have a Hogue rubber slip on grip on my CW9 that keeps moving around on me.
Does anybody that uses that grip on their gun have the same problem and/or is there some simple fix to keep it from slipping around?
I was thinking double sided tape, but I can't see it sticking to the textured finish of the plastic grip very well. Would rubber cement or any other similar glue work or is that harmful to the plastic gun?

Is it possible you need a size smaller slip on grip? Other than that I think an adhesive may be the ticket, it should say on the tube what materials the glue is safe for us on.

First the disclaimer-I haven't actually done this on a handgun-If you choose to try it it is at your own risk
My idea is an old trick I was taught some years ago when a motorcycle handlebar grip came loose. I was told to spray the inside of it down with hair spray-then get it back on the handlebar where I wanted it quickly (before the hairspray had a chance to start drying). It never slipped off again.

I have never used a slip on grip on a polymer handgun so whether or not you think this is a good idea is up to you. It just seems like it would work.

Buy a bicycle inner tube and stretch it over the grip.
This is known as a Glock sock and has been the standard before Hogue re-invented it.
A cheap-skate like me would go to a bicyle shop and ask them for a used tube as they change many flats every day.
Get several different sizes but I think 26x1.75 or 2.0 will work.

Just sayin'

1. Buy a new one, use hair spray on the plastic grip, get that, fresh, un-stretched, new one on, "where you want it", and let it sit and dry (not too long of a wait) and do not test it, by twisting-pressure to see if it is sticking, as you'll bust the seal.

IF the one you have now was never taken off, put back on, etc., otherwise, pre-stretched-out, then, as mentioned, go to the next smaller size and repeat above step 1.

2-sides tape is never gonna hold it, let alone, how you will have to struggle to get the grip on over it..

Rubber cement "may eat" some of the plastic grip, don't really know, but there are better ways to solve this as mentioned above.

Stick on skaters tape/grip may be another option

luck,

Put a piece of grip tape on each side of the grip before sliding it on. You'll kind of have to roll it on. It definitely doesn't come off after that.

You can get ladder/tread tape at home depot... or any hardware store pretty much. It works much better for my sweaty hands than slip on rubber covers.

I personally have two pistols with a piece of bicycle inner-tube under the slip-on grips. My Taurus Millenium Pro handle was just a little too small for the #5 pachymer grip, so I cut an inner-tube and put it under the grip...worked so well I did it again on my Sigma with a #3 Pachymer grip. Is it good looking? NO! Does it work? YES!

Thanks for all the replies. I tried the hairspray first as that was easiest, but it wasn't drying under the grip so I pulled the grip off and let it dry out
and get tacky. After that it still will move some now if I grip it hard but not as easily as before. I'll let that sit over night and see what's up. Then next
I guess is the tire inner tube under the grip. Either that or onto some hair mousse, hair gel or....toothpaste?

Yes, I have an innertube piece on 3 plastic guns. Is it pretty? No. But, it works. It's thinner than either the Hogue or Pachmeyer slip ons. No finger grooves or palm swells either.
