Can anyone tell me what press I could use to reload 3.5" 12ga slugs?

I looked at MEC's website, but they don't say anything about their presses working for 3.5" shells.

Is there anything special I will need to purchase to reload sabots/slugs, such as certain dies?

Thanks.

I can't speak to 3 1/2, but I'm using a Lee Load-All to do it for 2 3/4 and they make one setup for 3". There's nothing special needed, you just need the specified wads for the hulls/slugs you intend to use. (very specific recipes for hull/powder/wad/shell)

I'd imagine that any press that can reload 3 1/2 can reload slugs as well.

Just my .02

Dave

Why do you want to load 3 1/2 hulls with slugs anyway?

You can get all the velocity possible out of a 2 3/4" or 3" hull, and components are going to be much easier to come by.

Slug velocity is limited by the shotguns inherent weak design, not by shell length, or lack of powder capacity in the shorter shells.

Rcmodel,

I have a custom bolt-action shotgun with heavy barrel and 3.5" chamber. So I'm not limited by a "weak design", but rather case capacity.

I found out that I actually don't need a press for slug reloading. I just push the slugs/wad in with a dowel rod under good hand pressure, and then put them in a base holder and a drill press does the roll crimp.

If you roll crimp your hulls you can use any press to seat the components and then use a drill press or even a hand held dril if that's all you have. I'd suggest you pick up the Slug manual by Ballistic Products.. They sell slugs for reloading also.
