So. Cal. Fun Shoot to Benefit Needy Children !!

Raahauges http://www.raahauges.com/ Sunday Dec. 14,2003
Norco, CA

Shooters have a chance to bring gifts and shoes for two local organizations at this special 7th year holiday celebration. Once again, the Sporting Clays Range will take on the look of Santa’s Workshop as visitors, shooters and businesses bring their donations for two Southern California non-profit organizations.

The lucky organizations are Hillview Acres Children’s Home in Chino and Shoes That Fit in Claremont. The event will be held in conjunction with the Dec. 14 Sporting Clays Fun Shoot and will be held rain or shine.

People who cannot attend the event may drop off goodies to the range beforehand. Hillview Acres is wishing for new, unwrapped toys for children six to 15-years-old while Shoes That Fit is wishing for new shoes appropriate for children ages five to 15-years-old. Sizes range from size one in youth to size nine in adult.

Wish lists are available at their web sites at http://www.hillview.org/ and http://www.shoesthatfit.org/

The cottage staff at Hillview Acres also made a wish list to improve the living environment of the children and their experience. Some things on the list include silverware sets, tool set, bath towels, baking supplies, brooms, mops and technology such as television sets, DVD player, VCR and the Dr. Mario game for Nintendo 64.

Hillview Acres is a 24-hour residential treatment center for children who are the victims of physical/sexual abuse and/or neglect. They have been in existence since 1929 and have cottages to house 46 young victims ranging in age from six to 15-years-old.

This Christmas, the organization is trying to replace the children’s horrible memories with happy and joyful ones. The younger ones still believe in Santa Claus and the older children struggle with the stigma of living in a children’s home.

Shoes That Fit is an organization that has been in existence since 1992. They help school children in need by providing them with new shoes and clothes so they can attend school in comfort and with dignity.

Shooters that bring both — shoes and a toy — will receive 10 free raffle tickets for the monthly raffle drawing.

The Sporting Clays tournament will be the same, offering a 50 and 100 target competition with special classes for sub-juniors, juniors and ladies, as well as competitive classes for 20 and 28 gauge, .410, FITASC and 5-Stand. The sub-junior class is now for ages 13 and under and the junior class is for ages 14 to 17-years-old.

Sign-ups will begin at 8:30 a.m. with shooting starting at 9 a.m. Included in the entry is a special holiday lunch served around noon. For more info, call the Mike at (909) 735-7981.
