So there I am at the range...

Naaaaa. People push themselves to extreme when money is involved. I'm not saying no one can handle it. I'm saying that by the fifth round of your first 5 shots ever with the gun, most will be flinching due to the anticipated recoil. Hell, I've seen a lot of people flinching after the first round as they know whats coming. I'm sure that folks who are recoil happy have no problems with it after they get used to whats coming.

I guarentee that if you try shooting five rounds in a row of their 450 gr JSP, you will not hit the target by the fifth round.
Shot around 10 round of full powered stuff from the bench helping a guy zero his scope. Because of the dorky rest setup, you could only hold the gun with one hand while firing. Had to stop a couple of times and get control of things. You just have to accept that it's gonna hurt you but that keeping the sights lined up and making a nice clean trigger pull is far more important.

Gloves and/or wrist support make a lot of difference shooting pistols of this sort. By the sounds of these posts not many of you are aware of this? Anyhow, I'd no sooner shoot one of these monsters without wrist protection than I would hearing protection. That's to say I wouldn't make a habit out of it. But that's just me :)

Probably good advice--but while I went to the range expecting to put a good bit of lead downrange, I was planning to do it in small installments with a 9mm, not all at once with a .500! :D

Having a good glove would have definitely made a big difference in my comfort level.
