So, whatever happened to the "hot" gun control debate?

Beyond Beto's floundering on how to illegally confiscate guns from the population, and Kamala's spouting of really incorrect statistics, you had Warren and Bernie talking about adding semiautomatic rifles to the NFA registry...that may have a shot at getting pushed through depending on the landscape of Congress after the election. Not that I'm a fan if the idea, but there's 80 years of established law restricting access to firearms outlined in the NFA, so a court battle would be more difficult than defending against straight confiscation. I think that will be the one we need to watch out for.
Biden is saying the same thing regarding NFA registration.

The "canary in the coal mine" will be what happens in Virginia, if the Democrats take over the legislature following next month's election. Gov. Northam has already proposed a draconian AWB, that would give owners 6 months to destroy them, turn them in (without compensation), or move them out of state. This may be too much even for a Democrat-controlled legislature. But Virginia already has a "Uniform Machine Gun Act" (a state counterpart of the NFA), under which machine guns have to be registered with the State Police. I can easily see semiautomatics being added to that.

In Project Veritas' most recent expose on CNN, there is a reference to MSNBC having a big gun control town hall or something in the coming months. The push has just subsided while they get the "impeachment" clicks.

Gun Control is one of the constants they bring out when everything else is slow.

That's why the founders chose constitutional republic for our form of government, so the will of the majority could not be imposed on the rights of the minority.

Besides, with Trump win in 2020, he will continue to appoint federal judges and SCOTUS justices to secure the judicial future for gun rights and 2A for decades and generations.

You're thinking might positive about Trump's chances in 2020. I don't share your enthusiasm.

.
The way things are going, he may not even be the Republican nominee in 2020.

Well, I am just a "know nothing" NOBODY THR member randomly posting on a GUN FORUM and I disagree with both of you (I don't know why you continue posting anti-gun rights sentiments on a gun forum ... I really don't ... makes me wonder).

My sentiment remains the same ... WHEN Trump wins the 2020 election, judges and justices he will CONTINUE to appoint WILL continue ruling in favor or gun rights and 2A. Why is this so hard to agree on IF you are pro-gun rights? Unless you are not, IMHO.

Of course, time will tell who is right. In the meantime, chew over various models predicting Trump landslide win in 2020 - Enjoy.

Here's Dan White, Head of Fiscal Policy Research of Moody's Analytics (0:45 seconds of video)

And apparently other models as well.

Even if you are right, and Trump wins, he's lukewarm on gun rights, at best. There's no telling what he might do. As for judicial appointments, any Republican would do the same.

The "Appalachian Trail" former governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford, would make a better president than Trump, including on gun rights. (Sanford is actually running, and may get his chance if Trump is forced from office.)
