So with everything that is going on in the country regarding social distancing, shutdowns, etc, how has this affected NFA wait times? Are they running with less examiners now? I assume, perhaps incorrectly, that anything submitted in the last 2 months will be processed sometime after but not before 2025?

I put in 2 stamps at the beginning of the March and it was 250 days according to Silencer Shop. Now? Who knows? I'd expect a year after things get back to normal. Kind of depressing to be honest.

I've heard the examiners are still working, just from home like everyone else.

I got my latest stamp back in early March, it went pending May 23 '19. Apparently there has been a huge run on cans in the past few months, Silencer Shop even made a PSA post about it on ARFcom, a lot of stuff is sold out, or in and out of stock.

29-08-2019 started 26-09-2019 check cashed stamp recieved by dealer today 01-04-2020.

I have a can in jail right now, paperwork was received 20 June 2019, so it will be 10 months in 17 days. Last week they told me it was "pending", which to me means "we haven't lost your packet yet, and go away".

My last one went through in 10 months, 8 days. The next couple cans went pending in July 2019. When I called the NFA branch the other day they were able to confirm that those cans have been assigned to an examiner and that those personnel are working from home at the moment.

My local range is open, and an FFL. UPS and Fedex trucks stop there often. Also- for the uninformed, lots of individuals are FFL licensees. Who told you that stores were it for transfers?

Go to the individual, maintain social distancing, and get it done. Their transfer fee has ALWAYS been lower than the stores in my experience. Lower overhead, and competitive fees, you know?

In most states, yes. In Illinois , no. It was ok though, ranges are closed here.

Just called the local range/ FFL (Alabama outdoor), normal schedule, there. I'll be there (again) in the next week, or two.

I just got a notice that they cashed the 2nd of the 2 stamps I bought in March. So at least they are working.

I bought one in June 2019 and Got the stamp back Sept 2019. I have one pending since Nov 16th 2019 so I'm at 5m on that one. Trying to make any sense of the ATF will drive you insane lol.

the story I heard was that the atf hired some more examiners, and when they went to work they essentially grabbed boxes on top of the pile (most recent) rather than the ones at the bottom (next in line). So it was like then there is 1 cashier at walmart and the line is 16 people deep, and you are #12, then they open up a new line next to you and they 3 people behind you move over and get checked out long before you ever will.

That is also what I heard. There are still some quick ones coming back everyone in a while though. I want my mask so badly, so I can then go ahead and order a nomad and begin the wait all over again. Getting my first stamp was a mistake, its an addiction.

Why do you have to wait for the first can to come back before you start another?

Yeah, no reason to wait, some folks are getting batch approvals of all their pending cans at once. If you can swing it might as well get the paperwork stated on the cans you want, maybe you'll get lucky and they'll all come back at once.

I don't have to, wasn't my intention to make it seem like that. I have a personal limitation of one at a time due to the cost and I don't have a host for a nomad yet. My plan is to get my .308 or 6.5cm bolt action first, then order a nomad. I'm trying to alternate between suppressors and hosts and stay married lol.

Hey nothing wrong with any of that! Everyone has their reasons. In my case I knew the only way I was going to stay married was if we took care of all the cans at once (my wife is on my trust)!

I'd definitely order the can first, then you have 7-10 months to pick up the host.

My packet was received 20 June 2019, ransom check cashed almost immediately. Called for status on 1 April, was informed that packet was still pending but unassigned. Called again on 20 April (10 months to the day since they received it), was informed that stamp was approved on 6 April (2 weeks prior) . ATF employee had no idea if it had been sent out. Dealer has not received it as of yesterday (21 April). Innocent suppressor remains incarcerated.

This makes me hopeful 2 of mine are going to be approved shortly (my checks for those were cashed in July). Alas, I know too well the ATF doesn't do things that would make sense like that.

I don't think customer service is a menu option when you call them.
