Some 10mm reloading questions

I'm now ready to start reloading for the g-20. I'm experienced in rifle reloading and I do load for my .45, but this is my first time to reload for a. 10mm and b. Glock. So a few questions.
1. Any brand of brass better than another?
2. Nickle?
3. Best brand/weight for plated bullets,and cheapest place to buy them?
4. A favorite powder for a. target and b. up close hog work?
5. Accurate load for the g-20?
6. Anything else I'm forgetting?

Thanks in advance. I do have several manuals, but they really don't go into much detail on the 10mm-I guess I will just have to go to the range and to the dirty work myself

I'd probably stay away from Nickel plated brass, tends to not last as long and it a bit stiffer (resizing/expanding).

I think any 'name brand' brass is fine..

Not sure about plated bullets, I shoot lead mostly (.357). Good lead can be had from laser-cast.com and meisterbullets.com, I think meister may have plated but I'm not sure.

Make sure you're cases are trimmed to the proper length, and inspect for cracks/other damage.

Check your brass after you fire. I have had a bunch that are one time only reloads. And if your gun spits them 30 feet away, know where they fall.

As a g20 shooter only one question matters:

"Are you going to push it to the 10mm power level or the 40S&W level?"

If you are going hot, get rid of the stock barrel, get an aftermarket fully supported barrel. I chose the KKM 6" comped model. Now a 22 lb spring or slightly less if you are not going to hard. Next Starline or winchester brass and either 800x, AA7 or Blue Dot. I have my best luck with AA7. I shoot rem 180 grn JHP's with good results. I do not use Nickled brass in general. Finally check your brass often to make sure you are not beating it up.

If going to the 40S&W level, ignore most of the above and just reload with light loads.

I do not go for nuclear loads in my g20. I reserve them for my witness 10mm. Out of the g20 the best I have done is 1250 fps with 200 grn FMJ. Out of the witness I have gone faster.

If you really want to have fun, definitely look into an aftermarket barrel. Bar-Sto and KKM are very popular (I have a Bar-Sto). They'll support the case and let you really work out the 10mm. I'm still goofing with the 10, so rather than suggest loads, I'd tell you to go to glocktalk and look up a guy named MCNETT in the "10 Ring." Good safe info.

1. Starline, but most anything will work if you lose them before they wear out.
2. They have a picture of Jefferson, use brass in your guns.
3. West Coast are supposed to have the thickest plating, Rainier seem to be more consistentI've had no problems with either.
4. a. Blue Dot b. More Blue Dot
5. Cant help you here, every gun is different.
6. Aftermarket barrel and springs as mentioned in previous posts.

Look up the thread on hog hunting...

do a search on McNetts stuff. He's done a LOT of work getting the 10 cranked up, even with the stock barrel. Aftermarket is better. For serious work, most guys use XTP's in 180 or 200. I just got some BD to try in my G20.

AND....you probably already know, but no lead...plated or jacketed only

First: Get an aftermarket barrel. I have a BarSto, but I think you can get several cheaper that are just as good. (KKM, for example)

Second: Use any kind of brass you like. Plated bullets work fine up to about 1250-1300 FPS. HS-6 powder is excellent for moderate loads. AAC#7 is good for full throttle loads.

Good to see more people reloading for the 10mm!
Nickle-plated cases seem to be more brittle than normal brass. I prefer Starline brass (very strong), but Win brass is also good stuff (very pliable).
Some people have had problems with the West Coast bullets in 180gr keyholing including me (from one of my G20's), but others shoot them well (including my G20C, Delta Elite, G29 and my 6"KKM). I have recently switched from West Coast to Zero Bullets which is a real jacketed bullet. I use their 200gr FMJ for practice and rapid fire drills. It is very accurate and is $71.00/ 1000 delivered.
Favorite powders are as follows:
800X and Blue Dot, or STEEL for hot loads and hunting
Power Pistol, True Blue, and AA7 for range work, when metering is preferred over extra FPS.
AA9, Enforcer if I need stout loads (not as strong as BD or 800X) AND need ball powder for metering.
A favorite load of mine for deer and black bear is a 200XTP over 11.2gr of BD. 1.26" OAL CCI 350 primers Starline Brass- 1311fps from G20, 1250fps from G29, 1421fps from 6"KKM. Feel free to e-mail me with questions.

I would get a new barrel for the G20, one that has a fully-supported barrel. Your brass will last longer.

Or, you can discard brass when you have resized it a certain amount of times, but that would have to mean pretty good record-keeping and lot separation of brass
