Today was the first day of the Antlerless season here in Kansas.
It is the first hunt with my Senior Lifetime hunting license.
It was my first hunt sitting in the 6' high ladder stand sitting out back in the NW corner of my place.
It was the first hunt using my Savage 223 and my own reloads with which I got a nice yearling which is now hanging in the barn to cool. :)
And, as my wife reminds me, it was the first time that I used a knife that I had recently built to field dress the deer.

I have a friend who is a trained Chef and she came over this morning to help me process the deer.Got it all skinned, trimmed, cut up,ground and divided up between us.
Less than 24 hrs from field to freezer. Not a bad days work... :)
That's the way to do it. Should be some delicious venison.
I agree with AF. Pics or it didn't happen. ;)

Thanks again for the kind words Guys.
Regular rifle season is in December but archery season here is ongoing till the end of the year.
Downside is that I had to have a mohs procedure on my nose Monday so gotta wait till the 12 stitches come out and it's all healed up before I can try shooting my bow.
