I usually just sort it by "price low to high".

You'll see prices on cap and ball revolvers bouncing around from now until the 1st of the year. It's a bit frustrating because something that's usually $220 will be $200 now, $180 with free shipping at some other point, then $160 but without free shipping, then $170 without free shipping but they have a $20 off coupon.

Last couple of years I picked up
Griswold - $160
1851 steel .36 - $176
Uberti Wells Fargo - $280
Uberti Walker - $340
1860 steel - $180 but $20 off coupon but $17 shipping
1851 - the fake brass .44 one - $140 (!) with free shipping
1858 - I think I paid $180 but that was the year prior and it's fallen off the order history or something.

I'm not wild about a 44 Navy, nor do I care for brass. I do like a Navy with a 5.5 inch barrel though. I was about just about to jump on that Navy brasser for $139 but it has already gone back up to $199. :banghead:

I just went there and the priced have bounced up again, cheapest anything is $179.99. From now until New Years prices will change almost daily, been watching them do this for almost the last 10 years.

That's the thing, you have to have a target price in mind so you can move instantly if the price is really good - that's why I posted mine, to at least have some point of reference for people who don't know how low the sale prices can get.

No guarantees on anything of course, or it may be another year where they have really good discounts the last week of the year but it's tepid until then.

Well, an 1851 44 Brasser @ $179, with a spare cylinder works out to about $125 for the gun alone. That is almost as good as the $119 I paid about 4 years ago. Course the extra cylinders were only 50 bucks then too.:)

My problem with the spare cylinder deals is a) I never use them and b) I feel compelled to put good nipples on them anyway. Ends up being expensive.

Yeah, I don't see the point of them myself. I don't want to walk around with a loaded cylinder and fumble with it installing it anyway. I guess you could charge them and leave the caps off.

I'd rather they came with conversion cylinders. But then I guess that wouldn't be legal or whatever... maybe they could ship separately. :)
