some help with a gun buy

Hello,

I have recently come across a chance to buy some firearms from someone whos husband has passed away and wants to sell some of his guns. I want to be fair and give this woman a decent price on her guns because she doesn't know much about them, yet at the same time I don't want to overpay. So here are the guns I am considering. She said some of them have never been fired, but for the sake of argument, let's say they have been lightly used and are in good condition. All guns are about 15 to 25 years old, and have been in a case.

So what I am asking is what the fair market value of these guns are.
This is a list sent to me and some of the measurement on the barrel lengths seem a little off. But I am only going by the list, so feel free to tell me barrel lenths this long dont exist.


Colt magnum 8 inch barrel blue
S&W combat magnum model 19 nickel 4 1/2 inch barrel
S&W 44 magnum model 29, 8 5/8 inch barrel
S&W 44 magnum, model 67 black
snake charmer, 410 gauge only, H. Koon INC.
Winchester 22 LR, model 190 pump rifle
Remington rolel 7mm with a redfield 2x to 7x scope.

Thank for all your help, I want to purchase one revolver for sure. the snake charmer and the 22 rifle are also very high on my list. If anyone has an opinion on what the best revolver is out of all those, meaning quality, durability, accuracy, I would appreciate your input. thank you

Colt magnum 8 inch barrel blue

If that's a Python .357 magnum, it could be worth anywhere between $600 and $1,100, depending on condition and your location. That'd be my first choice, although I'll admit to being a little nutty about Pythons.

I think it might be worth your while to visit http://www.gunbroker.com and http://www.auctionarms.com to do a bit of research. Many of the prices listed on those and other auction sites are sucker prices, but if you hang around awhile, you can develop a feel for realistic prices.

It might be worth your while to visit a reputable gun shop or two with the widow and guns.

Impossible for me to give you values without seeing the firearms. 1-800-877-4867 or www.bluebookinc.com will get you the most used pricing guide by gun folks. I think anyone buying, trading or selling should have one. They have info for you to use in rating a firearm's condition.

As for that 8" Colt...

Is that a Trooper MkIII, Trooper MkV, Python or Anaconda?



Which model is the Remington 7mm and is that 7mm Mauser or 7mm Remington Magnum or 7mm-08?

I'll try and look up some prices on my own and see if I can get a feel. The idea about the gun shop is a good one also. I may go out there tomorrow or next week and take pictures of the guns, get some better info and get some more advice here online, thanks to all who replied.

Before you do that make sure you get permission from the owner/dealer.

I found out some more info on the guns.

The snake charmer has been taken out to be shot around two or three times, very good condition.

The same goes for the 22 LR pump action model 190 winchester rifle.

The colt magnum is a python .357, black, 8 inch, taken to the range about 2 or three times, very good condition.

I hope this helps some more. The other guns I am probably not going to buy so any help on pricing on these guns would be very helpful, thank you.

IMO, I would hit the gun exchange sites like Guns America and Gun Broker and find the lowest cost offerred to the particular guns I would be considering. The costs would probably be slightly higher than dealer cost but it would be the lowest price I or anyone else would pay. Actually, the price would probably be slightly lower than what I would have to pay as I wouldn't include dealer transfer, taxes, and shipping/insurance costs.
