"South Dakota House Passes Constitutional Carry!"

Saw this on the GOA Facebook alerts today February 18. It passed the House 44-23. So now it is off to the Senate and will be heard in committee February 24. The article didn't mention if the governor would sign it. Maybe someone from South Dakota can let us know if the Governor is in favor of it.

"During debate on the House floor, Representatives conceded that they have been “getting lots of emails” in favor of the bill. So we thank you for taking action on this bill -- it has made a difference!"

Wonderful news! Let's hope it goes All the Way!

I haven't heard any comments from governor Daugaard on the issue but I'd expect him to sign it. For all his many faults and failing as our governor he's always been very pro-gun.

This is astounding news, I'm almost in disbelief.

I lived in S.D. for about 7 yrs. back in the 90's, and I found residing there unbearable due to there restrictive gun laws, so I moved my family back to Az. because. And despite the fact that you could get your CWP easy enough, they would print the name and address of recently issued CWP holders in the news paper.

Great news. Of course to carry in states that have reciprocity with SD, residents will still need a permit. It's definitely a step in the right direction though.

You left too soon, in 2003 a Sachem from the Rosebud Res drove all the evil spirits out of Rapid City. After that Daschle couldn't get any votes and the state started being run from Pierre again.

(At least that's the story I heard. )

Sounds like a good story to me. Daschle certainly was not any prize for gun owner's. Getting rid of him in the Senate was a day to do your Happy Dance!

I'm elated to hear things are moving in the right direction, in this regard.

Do they still publish the name / addresses of approved CWP applications in the newspaper? That was something that I absolutely despised, I mean, what CWP holder wants their name and address plastered in public view?
