Just moved to the Clear Lake area (south of Houston) and would really appreciate any recommendations for good gun dealers and shooting ranges in the area.

Thanks in advance,

Larry

Hi! I would check out pro-defense on 45 and Nasa road 1.. They are a FFL and mainly sell equipment to law enforcement .. They have a few guys there that are very helpful ..

As for ranges, I go to A&R in League city .. Al, the guy who runs it, takes quite a bit of getting used to .. He is VERY weird about a lot of his rules..

carters country on south shaver off of spencer hwy. and marksman indoor range on hwy 3.

Free parking at the Pasadena show. With rare exceptions the best prices in town on new guns are from the larger regular gun show circut dealers. AJC & Bachman are usually at Pasadena.

I shoot at PSC, a private club ~7.5 miles west of I-45 on FM528, just before you get to the Ron Carter auto dealership in Alvin. www.psc-range.com should have the info.

I was at PSC last week for the TexasCHLforum day and was really impressed
with the facilities there the only thing keeping me from wanting to join
is its 70 miles from my house.

I shot pistols a lot at Marksman Gun Range. It is an indoor pistol range on Hwy 3 down near Airport Rd. It is on the other side of I-45 from Hobby Airport. Last time I was there, it was $7/person to shoot, no time limit, no pistol limit. They are open on Sunday's also. I think they are open until 10 PM 7 days a week. Not in the best area of town, but I never had any problems there.

There is also a rifle range open to the public out the other side of League City. You go South on 146 past Kemah and hang a right on one of the roads and take a left at the 2nd light about 2 miles down. I can't remember the exact name or exact directions. I moved out of Clear Lake over a year ago. That rifle range goes out to 200 yards. The can be pissy about their rules, but they aren't too bad.

Gun Stores: My first thought for guns stores is Pasadena has some good gun shows. :D There are some dealers that have some really good prices on new pistols and some decent ammo sellers.

Carter's Country in Pasadena has decent prices on some guns and some ammo. Some not. They also have sales listed in the Chronicle occasionally that can be pretty good. I have bought 4 or 5 guns from that store now that I think about it.

There are a number of other dealers in the area, but most were somewhat high priced IMO and normally didn't have what I was interested in. The police supply mentioned earlier I have never been to so try it out.

There are a number of other dealers in the area. Most either had nothing I wanted or were high priced on what I wanted. The police supply mentioned earlier I have never been to so try it out. I tried a couple of the places that sold some used guns, but they always wanted $100 or more higher than I thought I should pay. $250 for an Yugo SKS when most are selling for $130 doesn't make sense to me. I guess I look rich and gullible in person. :)
