Any recommendations for a speedloader for the Taurus 605? I have a new one, 2" SS model. This is my first revolver - I will be picking up some speed strips, but would like to try out a speed loader as well.

The 5 stars also work and clear and grip issues you might have................little pricey but they work

Went to Bass Pro today and saw this as the only option on hand - it's a pain, just not enough clearance around the grips to use easily. Gets hung up, and you have to shake the rounds out of the speedloader into the cylinder while they're only 1/3 inserted.

After a few days practice the HKS is kinda working - more of a convenience loader than a speed loader. There's a trick to how far you insert the rounds before turning the twist knob and shaking them into the cylinder. Acceptable but not something I would want to be doing under duress even with practice! Will investigate speed strips.

Look for the Dade Brand loaders. No longer in production but not hard to find used. They are more compact and use a simple tension band vs mechanical retention. Safari land would be a close second choice.
Personally, I never warmed up to the HKS loaders. They tend to dump their load at the wrong time (like in my pocket) when I've tried them.

Every revolver I have owned over the years, regardless of brand, required some relief work on the factory stocks to even begin to clear a speedloader. Evem some of the great Hogue stocks can hang a speedloader. I hate to carve on them but I will if necessary. I carry only revolvers and carry speed strips but I much prefer HKS or Safariland speedloaders. But they are just too bulky on a belt for me. The absolute best functional speed loaders are moon clips.

You got to flick it, bruh.

Get the rounds about half way in, the *FLICK* that knob!! Turn the knob sharply and let go of it. You'll find the rounds automatically drop away from the loader and into the cylinder. No shaking required. Practice it, I swear to God on God's life no crosses allowed that it works.

I simply used the same HKS speed loaders for mine as I used for my J frame Chief's Special S&W Mod. 36. Never really saw the need to find any other loader specifically for my 605. They worked for my 85 too.

I have a HKS 586 speedloader, free to a good home. Just PM me your name and address; if you're a member in good standing, it's yours.

I have hks speeloaders for my two Taurus rev's and my S&W CCW. I don't like the speedloader pouches that you wear on your belt but I read that the HKS loaders were nortorious for opening up in your pocket so about 4 months ago I place a loaded HKS loader in my front pocket and after 4 months of constant carry not once has it "let go" of my rounds. It is very important to train yourself on using the loader in stress situations and practice practice practice. I fill my gun and the loader with A-Zoom snapcaps and practice away until you can do it instinctively without looking. to get you started there are many videos on youtube.
