Pretty new to reloading and have been using 231 and Unique for 9mm. During this shutdown I figured I'd try some new to me powders. Any advice for using SP and guidance would be appreciated.

I really like it for my 9mm loads. I also started with 231 and quickly switched to sport pistol. Very similar burn rate to 231 but I found its more accurate in my Glock 19 and is a bit cleaner. Meters very well in my RCBS uniflow.

I've has good results out of my Glock 19 with 3.8gr of sport pistol, 124 RMR match winners at 1.080” OAL.. Velocity is just above 1000fps

Still testing it in my Glock 26 build but Initial results seem that it favors 4.1grs at 1.120”. (Velocity avg. 1003fps, SD 8fps and ES blow 20fps) Will also be testing this load in my 19 to see if it works well for both guns.

LiveLife and Walkalong have some good posts regarding loading for 9mm and sport pistol. I’m sure they will chime in!

Great stuff I use it for my 9mm Target ammo, meters/measures great
1/2 way through my last 4lb jug I will for sure buy more when I can find some

Of all the powders I've tried thus far with 115g 9mm HAP loads, Sport Pistol had produced the best accuracy. Here's a 10 shot group from 15 yds.

4.5g of Sport Pistol, 115g HAP seated to 1.080". Ave velocity from my 4.5" XDm was 1135 fps with that charge.

I just started the next 8# jug of ASP. I gave up buying 1#ers during the last scare and am glad I did right about now. Hopefully this jug will last until supplies are back in stock.
I used published data and didn’t need to go to max to achieve minor PF. Metering is excellent in my Hornady powder measure and SDs are very low and consistent in mixed brass.
I don’t shoot 115s but 124-147 jacketed, plated, or coated all do really well. Good luck!

I'd be curious how your testing with the 26 shakes out. One of my problems is I'm trying to develop a 9mm load for shorter barrels... 3.6" and 3.1" respectively, in my Kahrs. My tests with BE-86 did not turn out well, particularly in the shorter (CM9) barrel... I think the burn rate of BE-86 is just too slow. I'm going to try it again with SportPistol, but almost everyone is using it in longer barrels.

Will keep you updated! Might be a little bit I’m running low on my RMR 124gr MW and need to add more.
I did just get my first ever hi tek coated bullets in the mail today so I will be testing those out and doing some load development.

it very well could be that BE-86 is a tad too slow for the shorter barrels. Would be interested in your findings with sport pistol as well!

Been using SP in my daughter's comp loads, works fine but on a day with no breeze it creates a lot of smoke. Just decided to go to CFE Pistol, creates less then half the smoke. Also going to try some WSF as recommended by a fellow competitor. SP is what SNS suggests using for Poly Coated bullets but anything with the right burn rate should work.
