Spring/Summer Carry? Missing My LCPII ☹️

I’m on the Alabama gulf coast, often affectionately referred to as the “red neck riviera, “ as coined by the late Lewis Grizzard.

I pocket carry a Colt Agent revolver year-round, the heat and humidity be damned!

I had always vacationed on the east coast, but vacationed in Alligator Point July 2017.
We stayed in a house on pilings, lot right at the beach / water. Compared to the east coast, there was less breeze (when I was there) and bugs were relentless. It was HOT / HUMID, I was pouring sweat anytime I was outside; yet, I still carried my Delta Elite (carry gun of the time) everywhere.
Moved to east coast FL 3 years ago and I'm within 300 yards of the ocean; sometimes I've seen a 5-6 degree reduction in temperature here versus inland a couple miles.
I think one gets somewhat used to the heat after while; when I lived in KY 48 degrees 🥶 was not as cold there as it is here now.

I think it’s the wet/humid cold. As my wife and I age, we seem to get chilled easily nowadays. I can’t fathom living further north - and we’re both originally from Virginia. I’d rather be warm than cold.
Stay warm, my friend!

With spring and summer coming, I am wondering if I made a mistake by trading off my LCPII.
I really like carrying a j frame 38 airweight. But once and a while the LCPII made sense. On really hot days and with lightweight shorts.

What would you recommend for a lightweight extra small carry when you really want to carry a micro micro because your melting 🫠
I like shorts in summer so I use a twin 38SP derringer, fits in the pocket and easy to conceal After spending time at the range ,I have become proficient with it. Normal carry is 38 Sp SW model 19 in shoulder holster.

In 2019 we bought a home in a development between Georgetown and Conway SC. After three years of being vampires and only coming out in the cooler temperatures at night (during summer) we sold the home.
Back to Wisconsin and snowbirding works for us. The LCPII was really nice wearing shorts on those really hot days!

You miss it...get another lcp2!

Cheap and plentiful.

The new lcp style doesn't work for me. I have to find older style. No trigger dingus, not as blocky. I actually like the lines on the original lcp

I found a custom with the red trigger and sites that supposedly glow if held under light (I think I'll just paint them).

Honestly, the 7 round mags+1 in the chamber is impressive to me for the profile. 8 rounds of 380 hardcast on deck, ain't just whistling Dixie!

Thanks for the recommendation 😀 I have 3- j frames a 442, 642, & 637 and a Taurus 605 357mag. In addition I have a Taurus 415 41mag that is between a K & L frame size. I would like to try a M&P 340 someday.

Thread drift: I carry my 642 a lot, too, but the LCR has a better trigger and I slightly prefer it. LCR's are ugly, but if you shoot one, you'll understand why people buy them.

I just now realized my preferred HD handgun is about 34 years old. It's in very good shape. When I got it used a few years ago, it was in 95% + condition ($300 OTD). In 20 years it will have maybe another thousand rounds through it and finally be well broken-in.

I guess I kinda get the obsession with always practicing with the same handgun if it's a semi-auto, sort of. They do have different controls. The ones I use for SD are all DAO without safeties, though, so there's no issues with different buttons or switches. Revolvers? Naw. I been shooting them since I was a kid in the 70's. My hands definitely don't get confused between Colts and Smiths and Rugers and whatever. I don't even have to think about it. And if they don't shoot to POA, I don't consider them for SD.

So yeah, if your personal belief is that you have to do all of your shooting sessions with your one specific SD handgun, an older one is probably not a good choice for you. I usually practice with newer cheaper handguns that are very similar to my SD pieces, so the wear issue doesn't really come up much. Different strokes for different folks.

This one is pretty old, too, and I carry it sometimes.

That’s me; pretty much year-round in Florida.
If one can’t carry a decent sized carry gun “in the summer;” they need to get a better gunbelt and holster.

This may not apply to OP.
Fair odds that when one can dress as they choose it is not a gunbelt or holster limiting their carry, it is unwillingness to untuck their shirt.
And that little detail is often omitted.

I like the LCR! And yes they have great triggers.
I really don't care for the cylinder release on DA Ruger's.
I would like to buy a Super Redhawk (again), but fast reloading is less of a need for a hunting revolver IMO for this southpaw.

Looks like.you did what works best for you. I carry either G30 or Kimber compact in supertuck holsters. Glock was carried in south Florida with 115+ heat index. Also carried in Minnesota with -20 to -30 degree temps.
Big thing is you have what works for you.
