What's the point of sending an infantryman to Ft S
Earlier this week, I picked up a new Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded in black stainless. When I saw it in the case, I had to have it. I had seen pics of black stainless pistols before, but they did no justice to the pistol. I took it out to the range today and ran a quick 200 rounds through it, a mix of UMC hardball and JHP. Function was 100%, no failures of any sort. Exterior finish is excellent. Interior finish is good with some scour marks on the interior of the slide. Fit is generally very good, with only a couple of small things keeping it from being excellent. Accuracy is excellent, the sights are easily acquired and the pistol shoots point of aim out to 25m. The trigger is very good and compares favorably with my Kimber. I don't particularly care for FLGRs, but I plan on leaving it stock for the foreseeable future because it has pretty much everything else I want on a "day to day" 1911. Here's a pic.

That is the exact gun I am looking at getting next. Thanks for the report.

BTW, if you don't mind, where did you buy it, and what was the sticker price for it?

I have the same model but with adjustable night sights, extended mag well, and ambidextrous safety. I picked mine up, very lightly used, for $650.

My Black Stainless is currently the best and favorite 1911 I have owned to date. It is very accurate and has not had any failures since I bought it.

Just keep an eye on the two-piece guide rod. They do have a tendency to back out while shooting. First thing I did with mine was replace the two-piece with the standard GI setup. It made no difference with accuracy or reliability.

Enjoy...

Dude.....I saw that black stainless finish on a Springfield commander size gun this past Saturday......it really grabbed me. IF I hadn't just bought another pistol, that would have come home with me.

congrats...

Congrats! Nice gun!

If I buy a Springer 1911, if will be just like yours, except it will be the the Black Stainless with fully adjustable Bo Mar Cut Rear Sight with 3-Dot Tritium inserts, the model PX9152L.

That or a S&W, I'm not really sure which one. I sure like that Springfield! :scrutiny:

Again, congrats. :)
