Springfield Armory SAINT Victor .308 - A True Battle Rifle?

Interesting....as it says, Some Saint rifles equipped with this.

But we're talking about the Saint Victor series 308, I've watched couple reviews on the Saint victor 308...and they never mentioned anything about any gas adjustment.

It is a pointless gas valve. My Sig MCX AR pistol has a lever which is reachable through a generous opening in the handguard.
The Saint, you need a lengthy tool to reach down inside the handguard.
If you like to have an immediately addressable valve, buy the Sig. Or another with an easier valve to address.

I have a number of AR style weapons. If Skylerbone hadn't posted that Saint Instruction manual, I'd have claimed I only had one with an adjustable gas system (my Sig MCX is actually a piston system), but I really have two.

I’m not knocking AGBs, in fact I posted for info recently. What I don’t like is this particular one. I cannot say for certain which models do or don’t include this but it seems rather clumsy compared to others I’ve been perusing.

I have a regular Saint in 5.56mm. that has the midlength gas system and no agb, it has BCM forend, stock and grip. The "Victor" model comes in 5.56 and .308 (possibly other AR-10 compatability calibers too) and m-lok forends, and I think it's those models that have the wierd AGB that requires removable inserts.

I've got one on order so it should be here in a couple days. What's stopped me from buying one in the past was the weight and the typically longer barrels. With this one coming with a 16" lightweight barrel, it's more what I was looking for so I pulled the trigger. We shall see when it arrives I suppose. The price isn't really out of the ballpark for other comparable rifles, especially considering all the little extras that it has.

In order for me to consider it a battle rifle it needs to have the ability to do actual military service. So if you want a 7.62 NATO battle rifle of modern manufacture you can choose from Knights Armament Co, Lewis Machine and Tool, or Heckler and Koch. Those 3 companies seem to be the only ones winning contracts for military 7.62 NATO rifles and carbines these days, so I guess they’re the only ones who have figured out how to make their guns work right all the time.

Of those three options the Knights Armament Co. SR-25 enhanced combat carbine is the lightest and most like a general issue “battle rifle”.

And is it commercially available?

what about the Diamondback DB10 or the new PSA-10 GEN3?
I'm hesitant to buy anything from Diamondback, especially if it's over say $500.

I'd buy a PSA-10 if they would offer a 16" barrel that is NOT silver. :)

My Saint Victor arrived today and I'm very impressed! It's very light for an AR10 style rifle. It feels like some of the scoped AR15s I've handled over the years. The flip up sights are functional, but most people are going to put an optic on it so they are more for looks than anything. The Bravo Co stock and grip are nice touches on a factory rifle. The handguard is slim and sleek and feels very nice. The flat trigger is also a nice touch. Without having shot it yet, I would say it exceeds my expectations from a first impression standpoint.

Congrats and can't wait for a range report and first Shooting impressions.

got a email reply from SA as I was wondering what the thread pitch was and if at all if the Saint victor 308 has an AGS. She informed that they do have AGS, and thread pitch is 5/8x24
