Springfield M1903 Bolt Wont Close

Hi-

Losing my mind as to why I can't get this bolt back in. I have watched many videos, and thiers just works. I know it's gonna be something dumb, but can anyone please point it out? I've only shot this once.

Dunno, I am a dummy at non-223 bolts. It looks like this when it goes in.

Your bolt is ion the *fired* condition.

Pull your charging knob (pointed to in first photo) back and rotate clockwise 90 degrees.

Yours is in the position of my first picture and will look like my second picture when you rotate the charging knob.

It's a very common mistake when cleaning or fully disassembling the bolt.

Yeah - on those - misaligning that lug gets me from time to time.

Its more difficult to put it right with a Mauser 98, though.

Yup.
Done that with a Turkish 93.
The best part about it was all the new curse words I invented as I tried to bring the striker back.

Been there , Done that. First time I took my SKS bolt out it took me three days to get it back in. No real trouble with K98 bolts except that I once chipped a kitchen counter top decompressing the coc# ing piece.
