My new 1991 NRM had some bad scratches on the slide so I sent it into Colt for refinishing. It came back beautiful except for some kind of light stain on the top of the slide around the rear dovetail sight. Its brown in color and almost looks like dried glue. I tried cleaning it off with gun oil and a light household oil to no avail. I even gently scratched at it with a toothpick which didn't work either.
Can anyone tell me what it is and how to remove it without harming the finish?
