Many queries appear which request some point of law or statute.
There is a central resource on the web for this information: the Law School of Cornell University. This page has links to US Code and to pages of further links for each state.
Tie this to the NRA page on State Laws, which has links to .PDF files with firearms law text for each state, and one can see at least the 'black letter law' under which one lives.
Much of the law you may read is quite straightforward. Some is convoluted, and some has been modified in practice by court decisions. While reading the law will provide a good foundation from which to reason, the safest course is to pay for specific legal advice from a person licensed to practice law in your state.
