I just purchased a Steyr M40 from CDNN. Its serial number is 001XXX. After reading some threads here I am surprised at the low serial number. Before I shoot it I am curious to know if this a new trigger or old trigger. Also, what should I do if it is the old trigger? Is there any way to update it.

I looked at TFL post as according to the picture it has the new trigger, is this possible?

Thanks

I handled a Steyr M9 and M40 earlier this week. I do not see what some people see in these pistols. From the weird sights to the cheesy feeling construction, to the beyond strange fiddling with buttons in the trigger guard, to the annoying finger bump on the grips, I don't get these pistols, they can't possibly come with hi-caps can they?

So why'd you buy one? I am sincerely curious.

if it looks like the new trigger then it probably is :)

Either it was in dealer stock at the time of the recall or if its used then a previous owner sent it in and got the free trigger upgrade.

you can call GSI and have them research the serial number to see if the upgrades been done, but IIRC all of CDNN's inventory of Steyr pistols came from GSI with the trigger job already performed.

boats, theres no need to 'fiddle' with the safety. you either activate it or dont.

one other positive aspect of the Steyr safety is that if its used, should a BG wrestle your gun out of your hands and the safety is still engaged, you would likely have an extra couple of seconds while the BG tries to get the gun to discharge.
