I reloaded shot shells using my dad's PW 808B 20 years ago and recently starting reloading again after I inherited it because my son and I started trapshooting. I recall from my earlier days reloading that some shells would stick in the die when being ejected.

I started having the same problem again and started investigating what would cause that to happen, but have been unsuccessful in finding the cause. I have disassembled the press and found the inside of the dies had some corrosion, which I found strange because they are stainless steel. But none the less, I scrubbed the inside of the dies with steel wool until they were clean and bright. The problem persists.

I found that newer and older shells stick alike, and perhaps the newer shells are worse. But without collecting data and statistically analysing it I can’t tell a difference. Nothing about any one shell stands out. I have numbered the dies to see if there is a connection there, but again nothing obvious.

Any suggestions or experiences that you can share would be appreciated.
