as you may know memorial day was the deadline for the fast and furious investigation

still no word from him

http://washingtonexaminer.com/polit...-contempt-impeachment-justice’s-holder/691331

An aide to Boehner said that GOP leaders are waiting for Holder to respond to their late May letter demanding to know who planned Fast & Furious and other details before moving on a contempt vote. “At this point, we’re still waiting to see what Justice comes up with,” said the aide.

Holder is a criminal and one of the right hand men of the leader of the free world. He should be in prison and Obama should be impeached. Will never happen, but it is what should happen.

One should not expect anything prior to the presidential election. It may be a rally point for some, but most just do not care enough. Additionally, the press will not dwell on it.

For those who want to focus on issues that voters care about, look at the economy.

Eric Holder should be arrested, and charged. Hold him without bail. He is a flight risk.

Well, it's a lovely thought, but Congress has no means of doing that. It's up to the Executive branch to do arresting and holding without bail. In other words, the Justice Department. Do you really think Holder is going to arrest himself on word from Congress?

Frankly, I dont see anything happening to Holder. Congress can whine, but they really can't do much. It's not like there are Congressional cops who arrest people.

They need to hold holder in contempt of congress and (presumably) enforce it with a contempt citation. Thru a district court? That's an interesting procedural question.

Why is holder withholding the requested documents, and what is he trying to hide? Why hasn't obama ordered holder to completely and truthfully respond to the subpoena?

Ultimately enforcement requires the use (or possibility) of force. Congress has no ability to apply physical force. Only the Executive branch does. Holder, as Obama's appointee and chief enforcer, would have to use force against himself to compel compliance.

Ain't gonna happen.

Not political, factual.

The moderators are always looking for a call to action, not just talk. Here it is. Let's vote just like the people of Wisconsin did tonight.

You can count on my vote. It is a long wait until November!
Obama will avoid anything to embarass himself by way of a key federal appointee's actions or inactions, and not just in an election year.

Holder's attitudes are not that different from the modern Black Panthers, and not just because Holder tolerated......Videotaped/Documented......voter intimidation by Panthers at a polling location in Philadelphia, PA.

It's good that the OP raised this frustrating question, but what else are we to expect from such a connected pair of radical, Chicago Dem. politicians?

Fast & Furious was probably a direct attack on our right to keep and bear arms. This is one area of politics that is very valid on this site. Holder might be just what we need right now. He is politically wounded and therefor may not be much of a threat to us in the future. If Obama would have thrown him under the bus, Holder would be replaced by someone more able to do us harm.

a "wounded" man is still a threat as long as he still has a gun in his hands, Holder hasn't been disarmed, and as such, is still dangerous to us as ever. Never turn your back and on enemy still capable of doing you harm

The House should have impeached Holder a long time ago. They could also defund his office. Good luck getting the Senate on board with anything meaningful.

You got to love it he was caught red handed trying to claim all the guns came from the USA to tighten gun controll on us.

Yeah, whatever happened to law? These people are apparently above the law. If it had been any of us they would have put us under the jail. There is a few of then that need to be at least ousted IMO. Whatever happened to being able to ^^^do that? See the law only applies to those that follow it. I am sure most of us here ^^^do but it is really starting to anger menwhen I read about more and more of this kind of crap happening. At some point someone is going to have to ^^^do something because crap like this spreads and at some point people thst are law abiding will get fed up and leave their good ways because there will be nothing but anarchy. I sure hope it doesn't get to that point but it is looking pretty bleak these days.

This is not a real investigation. It's a love hate affair between weak kneed milquetoasts in congress and Holder.

Operation Fast and Furious was the brainchild of the career BATFE employees in the Phoenix office of the BATFE. The scam was sold up the food chain to political appointees in the BATFE, DEA and DOJ. Its significant that congress has not made the BATFE the subject of this investigation: Thats to be expected; historically congress has steadfastly refused to reform the BATFE.

Again, I'd like to see some of the 'real' (bar assoc.!) legal eagles weigh in for informd opinions... legal precedent from the Nixon (and maybe Reagan or Clinton) administrations on Congressional recourse in the event of non-compliance.
Could Contempt of Congress could lead to criminal penalties, or is a federal court order required to compell Holder under threat of arrest? What's the law, what are the legal precedents?
I'd like to see a productive, informative thread come out of this, rather than see it locked for bashing like the last one. As much as I personally hold Eric Holder and his leash holder in great disdain, I'm looking for something to expand my understanding, not pander to my prejudices.

He was grilled by Congress yesterday. The democrates claim he is being hammered for political reasons.

Hes being hammered for incompetence....every answer was either "I dont know" or I don't recall"....UNACCEPTABLE

Issa needs 21 votes to send the contempt citation to the house floor for a vote. The committee votes may not be there. 16 Republican members of the committee favor finding Holder in contempt. At least two Republican members of the committe are waffling. Five other Republican members of the committee refuse to comment on the subject.

Quote:

When compared with the 16 Republicans on the committee who have actively been speaking in favor of the measure, the silence, lack of outspoken support and desire by these eight GOP caucus members to avoid the issue could be a problem for Issa.

Republican leadership has been hesitant and reluctant to voice its support for Issa’s move, possibly owing to the chairman’s inability to guarantee the measure’s passage in his own committee.

With only 16 committee Republicans publicly supporting the resolution — and no Democrats — Issa falls short of the 21 votes he needs to pass it out of the 40-member panel to the House floor.

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) plans to hold off making a decision on whether he will support the measure until Issa puts forward a final version of the resolution and formally introduces it, his office told The Hill. Rep. Frank Guinta’s (R-N.H.) office said the lawmaker declined to comment on whether he supports Issa’s measure.

Reps. Todd Platts (R-Pa.), Mike Turner (R-Ohio), Connie Mack (R-Fla.), Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) and Patrick Meehan (R-Pa.) have not responded to repeated requests for comment over the past two weeks.

No, he's being "hammered" for participation in a criminal conspiracy which has led to hundreds of deaths on BOTH sides of the border... of course they NEVER count the Mexicans.
